Old Padeswood Golf Club Greens Team

We finally had a dryish week 🙏. You would all like to know the path on 17 is almost complete. We put drainage under the path to get rid of the sitting water this week and now it just needs Stone to finish it off. We will update you when it's complete.

On the course, all the cross diches have been cleaned out and the water is flowing, we just have the metal bridges to dig out. All the greens have been pro-cored with 10 mm solid tines getting much needed air into the top layer. And finished off with a roll with the Tru-turff iron 👌🏌️‍♂️.

The course remains closed today due to snow on the ground and also Frozen ground conditions 🥶😔. But on the plus side it is melting 🙏

The snow is still with us, it's not got above freezing all week and hit -6 this morning 🥶. We have been out on the course cutting up fallen trees that come down with the snow. And sorting out roller bearings and servicing the machinery ready for the season ahead 👍🏌️‍♂️

It's been a sleeper's day 😅.

As most of the Members know we got hit really hard by storm Darragh.😞

But the greens team is working really hard getting back to a playable condition. Thanks everyone 🙏

Got to the course Sunday morning and was greeted with a boating lake.
And within 48 hours the water is back in it's ditches 🤯.
The work we did on the main ditch has helped with getting the water away a lot quicker. All the drainage pipes are clear and working well. It is just waiting on the ground conditions to improve so we can reopen.

Despite the awful weather this week, we have made massive progress on the new 17th path. The path will be filled with m.o.t and then topped off with crushed slate next week.👍

While digging the path we exposed two old land drains they will get re-stoned before the path gets laid.

And we also discovered a very old golf ball when cleaned up and a bit of research 🧐.we found out it's a Dunlop Goblin 1 from 1930 🤯. We will leave it in the bar for the members to have a look at. 😀 Old Padeswood Golf Club .

The snow will not stop us 🥶🥶

It's been a productive week on the course. We had Marcus from MG Turfcare out with his Air2G2 👌
Majority of the course got a full cut and the Amazone back out on leaf collecting. 😀 🏌️‍♂️

The work we did on the 18th has helped out massively getting part of the course back open within 24 hours 👍. We are taking advantage of the out of play arias and doing some deep aeration to the greens.
