Day 1 began with an early start in Mold as the team set off on the ride. After cycling to Birkenhead, they boarded the Stena Line ferry bound for Belfast — but the ride didn’t stop there. Determined to make every mile count, the team kept up the momentum by cycling on a turbo trainer throughout the ferry journey across the Irish Sea. Spirits were high, and the energy remained strong as they rolled into Belfast, ready for the challenges ahead.

🚴♂️ Hoppo’s Hi 5’s 2025: The Journey Continues 🚴♀️
This summer, the wheels keep turning in memory of Paul and David Hopkins — two remarkable young men whose lives were tragically cut short, but whose spirits continue to inspire a community.
What began 15 years ago with a touch rugby tournament in Mold has grown into various charity fund raisers. In 2025, over 30 riders will take on the third leg of our charity cycling challenge, riding from Mold to Belfast and back, with a stretch through Dublin and along the North Wales coast. We'll even be static cycling on the ferry crossings to keep every mile going strong!
This isn’t just a ride — it’s a journey fuelled by love, remembrance, and the drive to make a difference.
💓 Why We Ride
Paul was born with a heart condition but lived with a light and positivity that touched everyone around him. David brought joy and calm in equal measure, always up for adventure and always ready with a smile. We ride for them, and for the countless families affected by heart disease.
💷 So far, we've raised £61,132 for the British Heart Foundation, funding life-saving research and support. With the 2025 challenge ahead and the final Cardiff leg still to come in 2027, we need community support to hit our target of raising £100,000 for BHF.
