Last week saw us play newly promoted side Aston in the NEWFA Trophy Final. Unfortunately, the lads struggled in the first half going into the break 1-0 down. The Grug missed some chances early in the second half that could have flipped the game on its head. Aston capitalised, scoring another 2 goals and putting the game to bed. A tough game and a disappointing result after a great cup run. We look forward to a short break now before starting preseason where we look to build on this season.
Da Iawn lads, See you next season.

Overton RFC 2-2 CPD Yr Wyddgrug
The lads went to Overton with a depleted squad and a tough game ahead. Plenty of chances for both teams in the first half with both struggling to capitalise, until the gaffer stepped up with a great run into the box, beating his man and slotting one in after a fantastic run and cross from Leon just before half time.
Overton came out into the second half grabbing a goal back in the 58th minute after a deflected shot fell to their striker at the back post.
In the 80th minute Leon created another great opportunity, falling to Joel’s feet who was in the right place at the right time yet again, allowing him to grab his second of the game on his return to the pitch.
Unfortunately, Overton grabbed a late free kick late in the game that deflected off the wall and fell to their striker, heading it in to secure the draw late on. A couple more big chances missed at the very end that would have sealed the 3 points for the Grug.
A MOTM performance from Joel on Saturday, stepping out of retirement to secure the point with 2 great finishes up top.
However, a great point away from home. See you again on Saturday Overton for our final league game of the season. Both teams wanting to keep a good run of form before their cup finals coming up in May.

CPD Yr Wyddgrug 2-3 Aston Park Rangers FC
The lads hosted promoted side Aston on Wednesday. With a depleted squad, we knew it would be a tough fixture. Leon put the grug in front early on before Aston answered back with a goal before the break.
The second half saw Aston go 2 goals ahead within 18 minutes. The lads kept fighting, and managed to pull one back in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, the lads struggled to find the third with some great saves from the keeper and hitting the bar in the process.
We move onto the weekend where we play Overton in the league.
