When we invert, in standing forward fold, headstand or even downward facing dog, allll of our awareness is drawn inwards as we focus our attention entirely on stabilising in the pose. In turn, this helps to quiet the mind and allows us to land fully in the present and focussed on the NOW.

Asanas like Plough pose and Shoulder stand can help to stimulate the Vagus nerve, down regulating our nervous system and reducing the cortisol levels that can cause stress and anxiety
