Here are this weekend’s teams!
The first XI host Bay Dragons in what should be a brilliant game. The 1sts are looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result last weekend. A strong starting XI and hoping to earn ourselves a win to get back on track!
The second XI travel to Panteg and Monkswood to face their 3rd XI after a brilliant win last weekend. Skipper Andrew Dobbie in the runs so far this season and a strong bowling attack so fingers crossed for another positive result!
The third XI have no league game this weekend so instead we host Machen 3rd XI in a 40 over friendly on Chippy. A brilliant win last weekend and a lot to build on. Charlie Mallen plays again after taking 5/22 last weekend and strong batting this week should mean we have a great game on our hands.
Go well all 🔵🟡

🏏 A fine unbeaten half-century from skipper Ashley Burdett guided Monmouth’s women to an emphatic nine-wicket win at Newport Fugitives in the South Wales Women’s Hardball League Division 1.
🤩 In reply to Fugitives’ 110-6 from 30 overs, opener Burdett hit six boundaries in a match-winning 52 not out.
🎉 Backed up by newcomer Sophie Davies (20 not out), the duo steered Monmouth to the target in just 13.4 overs.
🤝 It was an impressive all-round display from Monmouth, who picked up 18 points from yesterday’s victory.
👌 Earlier in the day, Kelly Chilton (2-10 from six overs) was Monmouth’s most successful bowler.
🙌 Shannon Maguire (1-21) and Penny Boyle (1-36) each picked up wickets, while Burdett and Lauren Maguire both delivered six miserly overs costing just 12 runs in total.
ℹ️ Darcy-Mai Butler (25 not out) and Kate Jones (16) were the only Fugitives players to reach double figures as McGloin, and Chilton held catches.
🙂 Lorraine Wadley and McGloin also instigated run-outs for Monmouth, while Clare Knight and Amelia Holt were sharp in the field with wicketkeeper Jill Jones tidy behind the stumps.
👏 In Monmouth’s previous Division 1 outing, Burdett (85) and Chilton (55 not out) shone with the bat in an impressive 132-run league victory against Abergavenny at the Sports Ground.
🔥While Burdett and Chilton led the way, Bea Jones (16), McGloin (13) and Sue Shemilt (13) also contributed in Monmouth’s commanding total of 231-5 from 30 overs.
👍When Abergavenny replied, Chilton snapped up 4-15 from six overs, while Burdett (2-11 from four), Shannon Maguire (1-10 from four) and Boyle (1-15) all chipped in to help dismiss a spirited visitors for 99 in 23 overs.
✅ While Maria Sheehan (46) and Bella Collett (15) impressed for Abergavenny, Burdett (2), Shemilt (2), and McGloin took smart catches for Monmouth.
👉 Monmouth, who are being coached by Gareth Jones, are now fifth in the table with two wins from their opening three hardball matches.
📍They host fourth-placed Western Steel Seconds in their next Division 1 fixture at the Sports Ground on Sunday 21 June (midday).

🏏 Unbeaten leaders Monmouth will be aiming to strengthen their position at the top of the Forest of Dean Hundred League next Wednesday against sixth-placed Parkend at the Sports Ground (6pm).
👌 Ben Pilot’s midweek side head the Hundred League ladder after making an impressive start to the new campaign with five successive victories.
😕 Monmouth will be hoping to overcome last season’s disappointment when they finished top of the ladder but lost in the knockout final to Cinderford St John’s.
🤩 Skipper Pilot (pictured) was in scintillating form with the bat earlier this week as Monmouth, sponsored by Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, stormed to a 10-wicket home triumph against bottom-of-the-table Ross-on-Wye.
🎉 Pilot, the league’s leading scorer so far this season with 178 runs, was at his dominant best against Ross, hammering an unbeaten 71 from just 25 balls.
🙌 In reply to Ross’ 118-6 from their 100 balls, Pilot laid into the visitors’ bowling in brutal fashion, crashing 11 fours and three sixes.
🤝 Sharing an unbroken opening stand with Matt Jones (37 not out), Pilot powered Monmouth to the target with 44 deliveries to spare.
ℹ️ Earlier in the evening, Charlie Bowden (43) and captain Michael Willis (26 not out) were the mainstays of the Ross innings.
🙂Sam Uttley was Monmouth’s most successful bowler, claiming 2-17.
🤝 Aled Jones (1-15), Joby George (1-17), Pilot (1-18) and Monty Clarke (1-18) also picked up a wicket, while William Wilton, Ellie Potter-Irwin, Pablo Nayager and Callum Uttley all delivered tidy stints.
✅ Pablo Nayager, Sam Uttley and Pilot held catches and wicketkeeper Andrew Dobbie impressed behind the stumps for the hosts.
🌎 Meanwhile, Monmouth 1st XI travel to Ponthir Seconds next Friday in a re-arranged quarter-final tie in the Macey Bowl (6pm).
🌧️ Rather frustratingly, Monmouth’s three teams were thwarted by the wet weather today after their league fixtures were washed out without a ball bowled.
👍Monmouth 1st XI have made a promising start since promotion last summer and are joint-top, alongside TAW with a total of 82 points, in South East Wales League Division 6.
📍Monmouth visit eighth-placed Penarth Thirds next Saturday (12.30pm) after their home clash against Upper Rhondda fell victim to the rain.
📍Monmouth Seconds will be aiming to get their Division 12 campaign back on track with a home derby against Llanarth Seconds at the Sports Ground (12.30pm).
📍And Monmouth Thirds play Malpas Fourths at Rougemont School in Llantarnam in Division 15 (12.30pm).

Mixed bag this week 🟡🔵
1st XI win away at Hopkinstown by 47 runs. A brilliant attacking knock from Ben Pilot 91(47) included 8 maximums led Monmouth to 267 from their allocation. Pilot was well
supported from Ben Lander and Harry Desroy to get Monmouth to a very respectable total before being bowled out.
In reply, Pilot led the way again with a brilliant spell of 3/17 (8). Wickets for Gareth Jones 2/48 (8), Eddie Atkinson 3/59 (8) and Harry Desroy 2/30 (7) eventually meant Monmouth won by 47 runs.
In the second XI, having lost the toss Monmouth were put into bat. Facing a strong Dinas Powys team we managed to put on 119 before being bowled out. Matt Williams added 24 alongside useful contributions from Neil Saunders 19 and Sam Brennan 19.
In reply, Dinas Powys looked in control reaching the target 2 down. Wickets for Tony Brennan and Joe Walton this week.
In the third XI, skipper Theo Minnie won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Paul Mallen made a brilliant 96 with 17 fours and 1 six before being dismissed agonisingly close to a hundred. Nick Holt added 19 and Pablo Nayager 27 which led Monmouth to 178 all out from 39 overs.
However, in reply Penarth made a very respectable total look easy. They reached their target without losing a wicket.
We go again next week! 🔵🟡

😕 Monmouth Seconds suffered an eight-wicket home defeat against second-placed Dinas Powys Thirds today in South East Wales League Division 12.
🤝 Opener Matthew Williams (24), fit-again Neil Saunders (19) and Sam Brennan (19) were the mainstays of Monmouth’s below-par 119 all out at the Sports Ground.
👌 Tony Brennan (14) and opener Jake Teague (12) also made contributions, but Will Palmer took 3-20 to skittle Monmouth out in the 34th over.
ℹ️ Tony Brennan (1-6) and Joe Walton (1-31) both picked up a wicket as Taylor (36 not out) and Tucker (36) guided high-flying Dinas to the target in the 26th over.
🎂 Despite the disappointing result, Aled Jones (0-9 from four overs), Sam Brennan, on his 100th club appearance, and Monty Clarke, on his 16th birthday, bowled decent spells.
📍Next Saturday, Andrew Dobbie’s side will be hoping to halt a run of two defeats when they head to Wick in the Vale of Glamorgan to play leaders Vale Thirds (12.30pm).
📸 Fit-again former skipper Neil Saunders (pictured) made his first appearance of the campaign.

🙌 Opener Paul Mallen hit a classy 96 as Monmouth Thirds posted 178 - but it could not prevent a 10-wicket defeat today against Penarth Fifths at St Cyres School in South East Wales League Division 15.
👏 Mallen struck 17 fours and a six in an impressive 102-ball innings which deserved a century.

🎂 Pablo Nayager celebrated his birthday with a quick-fire 27, containing three fours and two sixes, while Nick Holt made 16.
🏏 Penarth’s line-up included former Glamorgan bowler Mark Frost, who snared 2-22 from eight overs.
ℹ️ Despite four accurate overs from all-rounder Richard Cotton, Penarth’s Darryn Lewis (106 not out) dominated proceedings and the hosts brought up their victory in the 24th over.
📍Monmouth Thirds play Crumlin Seconds at Chippenham Fields next Saturday (12.30pm).
