Wye Valley Experience

Morning all,

Unfortunately Wye Valley Experience is having to close its doors for good at the end of October.

It’s no secret that times are hard at the moment with the cost of living and add to that the pollution on the Wye and the weather which our little business isn’t able to ride out.

It has been a spectacular few years and we have made some amazing friends along the way and given a lot of hard working people a break from their everyday lives and relax for a couple of hours.

We are so grateful to all our wonderful customers for supporting us.

If you didn’t already know myself and Emrys cook have taken on the Boat Inn in Penallt which hopefully in the future we can have some canoes and SUPs at but until then pop in and say hi.

On a practical level, all bookings up until the end of October will still go ahead as planned and if you have gift certificates and vouchers please contact us and we will absolutely honour those.

Lastly I would like to thank all of our wonderful hardworking team working on the day and behind the scenes to make such a positive experience for our customers.

Do I need to be experienced to go on our SU Paddleboards? 🏄‍♂️​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Although Paddleboards look a little intimidating, be rest assured that we also welcome beginners.

We offer 2 hour SUP sessions for those starting out, so you can get used to the paddleboard. Before getting on the Canoe, we will go through the basics of how to balance properly on them. You will then be free to paddle through calm waters. 🏞

More experienced Paddleboarders can go on SUP River Trips that go alongside the Canoes. 🛶

What age can children go on SU Paddleboards? 🏄‍♂️​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​For our 2 hour beginners sessions children from 12 years old are able to have their own board, although, children from 4 years old can go on a board with an adult.

for the River trips, children from 14 years up are able to have their own board.

we advise young children to wear helmets to protect themselves. life jackets are mandatory for all ages.

Happy World Rivers Day! 🏞​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Not only is the River Wye a place for us to cruise on the Canoes and Paddleboards, it is also a place of beauty that is home to an abundance of beautiful wildlife. We never take the Wye for granted. 💙🛶🏄‍♂️

What if it rains on the day of your Canoe/Paddleboard trip? 🛶🏄‍♂️​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We do not cancel trips on the River because of rain. We do ask you to dress appropriately for the weather such as wearing waterproofs, bringing warm clothing and sensible shoes. We also encourage that you bring spare clothing along that you can change into after your trip incase you get wet.

In rare circumstances of extreme weather, we will cancel the trip if we believe it will affect the safety of the trip. In this case we would be in touch with either a choice of a refund or reschedule.

Happy World Wildlife Day! 🐦​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​When adventuring on your Canoes and Paddleboards, be sure look out for wildlife that could be living on the River Wye. You could see Swans, Kingfishers, Salmon, Otters, and there have even been rare sightings of Dolphins too. 🐬

Happy Zero-Waste week. 🚯​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​It's so important that we keep our beautiful Wye clean from litter and other items that could be accidently dropped in the River when going on Canoe or Paddleboard trips.

🌳Keep litter safe in pockets or bags until you find a rubbish bin.

🌳Make sure other items are put away safely in bags or waterproof storage to prevent items from dropping in the River.

🌳Ensure litter is placed properly and securely in bins so it doesn't blow away easily.
