This morning I asked the TMH membership group this question:

What’s ONE small thing you could do this week for your wellbeing?

I didn’t ask them to do a complete lifestyle overhaul or implement a new routine that they would struggle to maintain.

I asked them to focus on one small thing.
Because small changes, done consistently, can make a real difference. This is an important message in the membership and one I talk about often.

Maybe it’s:
✨ Putting your phone away for the first 30 minutes of the day 🙋🏼‍♀️
✨ Getting outside for 10 minutes
✨ Going to bed a little earlier
✨ A calmer morning
✨ Drinking more water
✨ Saying no to something you don’t have the capacity for
✨ Taking 5 minutes to pause.

For me, this week, I’m going to work on not reaching for my phone first thing in the morning. Bad habits have formed recently and I want to make changes. So that means no emails, social media or WhatsApp for the first 30 minutes of the day.

But here’s the important part:
It’s easy to choose and state your “one thing” but the next step is thinking about HOW you’re going to make it happen.

Ask yourself:
- When will I do this?
- What might get in the way?
- What could help me succeed?
- Do I need a reminder, a plan or support from someone else to achieve this?

Small changes become habits when we make them easy, realistic and part of our everyday lives.

So this week, choose one small thing and spend a few minutes thinking about how you’ll actually do it.

Remember:
✨ Choose one.
✨ Keep it simple.
✨ Make a plan.
✨ Start there.

What’s your one small thing this week? ❤️

When I sat down at the end of the summer to start planning the retreat, something didn’t quite feel right.

I knew I had lots of lovely things planned for the day, not forgetting an incredible venue, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing.

When I really sat back and thought about it, I realised it wasn’t a thing. It wasn’t an activity or another element to add to the day.

It was a person.

And there was only one person who came to mind when I thought about who I wanted to share this journey with.

Meet Lyndsey.

Lyndsey and I have been friends for over 10 years. In that time, we’ve watched each other get married, have children, change jobs, start businesses, take on new challenges and even run marathons!

She is incredibly creative, wonderfully organised and, most importantly, someone I love spending time with. All of these things make her the perfect addition to the Thriving Mum Hub event team.

Lyndsey has been helping behind the scenes with some of our smaller events this year and has always provided a listening ear and been one of my biggest cheerleaders. But now it’s time for her to come on board in a bigger capacity, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited.

Sharing the planning, bouncing ideas around and dreaming up all the little details has made putting this retreat together even more exciting. We absolutely cannot wait to bring it all to life for you this November.

And the countdown is officially on…

✨ There are just FOUR spaces remaining! ✨

So, if you’ve been sitting on the fence, maybe today is the day you take the leap and sign up. Link to book is below:

There’s still a payment plan available too, so you can spread the cost and make it a little easier.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d love to chat.

The Gauntlet Aberdeen.
8th overall, and 5th in my age group. 30-39 is made up of a lot strong women 💪🏻. Delighted with the result (even if the burpees almost finished me), had great fun on the competition floor, and my knee didn’t hurt at all 😊

I’m still figuring out how to train around 3 small people, running my own business and a small support network, but what yesterday showed was that if you show up consistently you can still get results, and you can still achieve hard things.

The 20 minute workouts, the time efficient gym sessions, the runs accompanied by children on bikes, the chaotic short blasts, they all add up when you focus on doing them consistently, not perfectly.

The best part though?
Watching some friends/fellow mums/TMH class attendees absolutely smashing their first hybrid race. I get as much pleasure supporting, as I do competing and I can’t wait to encourage some more mums to take on the challenge. The Gauntlet is the perfect introduction to hybrid racing. The atmosphere was amazing and the volunteers/organising team were so supportive.

Here’s hoping they bring The Gauntlet back to Aberdeen next year.

If you can’t wait that long, why not sign up to The Gauntlet Glasgow in January. The perfect goal to keep you focused through Autumn/Winter. I’ll be there, as will Finn, who is taking on the Legacy race with my sister ❤️

Maybe we’re overcomplicating play.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

I haven’t shared as much play content over the summer, partly because our days have been so unpredictable. We’ve spent lots of time outside, mainly exploring the world around us.

And honestly? I didn’t feel the need to plan much more than that.

But it’s also made me question whether we’ve started to overthink play.

We’re constantly shown ideas that are beautifully set up, carefully planned and Pinterest-worthy. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it can sometimes leave us feeling like good play needs to look a certain way.

And I don’t think it does. Since getting back into our usual routines, I’ve been reminded that play isn’t just something we need to give our children to keep them busy.

It’s an opportunity to connect with them and to step into their world for a little while. To put the phone down, forget about the washing, the emails and everything else on your to-do list, and simply be present.

Yesterday, I decided I needed to get better at this again.
I spent just 15 minutes with each of the girls, doing something they wanted to do.

We baked. We did a simple cutting and sticking activity inspired by a favourite story. There was no elaborate set-up. No perfect end result. No beautiful photo for Instagram. Just chatter, laughter and connection.

And honestly, those 15 minutes made such a difference.

So if you’ve been feeling like you should be doing more play with your child, perhaps the answer isn’t another activity to add to your list.

Maybe it’s simply 15 minutes of following their lead.

Play doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.
It doesn’t need to be educational, aesthetic or perfectly planned.

Sometimes, the simplest moments are the ones our children remember most.

But if you feel you need just a little inspiration sometimes, head to the website where you’ll find some ideas or join us in the membership where you’ll get access to little invitations to play that will provide opportunities for connection.

Save this as a reminder: play doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful!

Something different from me today and the first time sharing a full day of eating! Here is how I fuel my body to support my physical and mental health.

While most days look like this, skipping lunch can sometimes be my downfall and I definitely pay for it by mid-afternoon! I’m working hard to change this by planning my lunches just like I do breakfast and dinner.

Today was great because proper pre- and post-workout fuel kept my snacking to a minimum.

I don’t track my food at the moment and the 80/20 lifestyle works perfectly for me right now. But if my goals change, I might start to implement this.

Planning ahead makes a world of difference. Inside The Thriving Mum Hub membership, we have meal plans to inspire your week and make fuelling your body simple.

Let’s inspire each other: what’s your go-to pre-workout snack? Drop it in the comments to help out another mum!

P.s. there is a good chance there will be a cup of tea and biscuit later ☕️

Barbells and Babies back 🤩

When: Thursdays (starting next week - the 3rd)

I loved these sessions before the Summer so I’m looking forward to getting them back up and running next week.

Barbells and Babies is about helping you rebuild your strength and fitness in a small gym environment without needing to worry about childcare. Chloe has created a great space to do this.

Little ones who are not yet walking are more than welcome to come along with you.

Sessions are modified accordingly so that everyone can work at their own level and will involve a mixture of low impact cardio and strength work.

It was a week of mixed adventures.

From exploring some local woodlands, to Munro bagging in the Cairngorms and bike rides along the Deeside Railway Line.

I honestly feel so grateful to live in a part of the country that gives you all these things, pretty much on your doorstep.

It might be a quiet week of adventures this week, but I’ll make sure I post some more inspiration to get outside soon ⛰️

My walks are usually uploaded to Strava, but if you ever have any questions, please get in touch.

I don’t know what’s happened to summer here in Scotland, but it’s feeling rather like autumn already. 🍂

And whilst I’m definitely keen for the sun to make an appearance again before summer is over, it’s also got me looking forward to the cosy vibes of autumn and winter.

More importantly, November sees the first day retreat from The Thriving Mum Hub, and we are now in full planning mode.

Ever wondered what it’s like inside Cluny Castle, this is your opportunity.

Cluny Castle is a beautiful, historic castle nestled in the tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside, and is the perfect venue for our November retreat.

Throughout the day we will have exclusive use of the castle. We’ll hopefully be able to make the most of the wonderful grounds, with workouts on the front lawn and guided runs or walks along the surrounding trails. There will of course be an alternative indoor space if needed.

We’ll also be using some of the beautiful rooms inside the castle for our Pilates workout, journalling session and a space to come together to enjoy some delicious food and moments to relax. Think fire on & comfy sofas.

This day is all about someone else making the plans for you. Because, more often than not, it’s always us making sure everyone has what they need.

You simply have to turn up and let everything else be taken care of.

We hope it will provide you with an opportunity to reflect, reset and recharge as we head into the winter season.

Spaces are limited and nearly half the spots have been taken already. You can secure your spot today with just a £25 deposit, and payment plans are available.

Your future self definitely won’t regret you booking this day in your diary. ❤️
