Today we had 2 in the finals at the Manchester Box Cup. Nathan Loughran and Eli Sowerby both boxed punch perfect bouts winning unanimous decisions to take the win and become Box Cup Champions. To say we are proud is an understatement, they represented MAD Boxing and showed just how skillful they both are, putting in excellent performances and getting deserved wins. We are a self funded gym, we don't ask for or get grants , we are a traditional spit and sawdust boxing gym , no frills, no state of the art equipment, just punch bags, gloves and masses of determination. We don't look for fame, our coaches do their jobs behind the scenes not in front of the cameras, each and every coach committed to helping our boxers become the best they can. We do it for the outcome, not the income.

Manchester Box cup semi finals today. First up was Nathan Loughran who boxed a perfect bout showing class combined with amazing footwork, angles and combination punching to head and body. The result was a unanimous decision in favour of Nathan who moves to the final tomorrow. Next up was Eli Sowerby who barely broke a sweat in stopping his opponent in 24 seconds of the 1st round. Just too much power for his game opponent to handle and the stoppage came from a Savage body shot with his opponent unable to continue, Eli now moves to the final tomorrow. Final boxer in representing MAD Boxing was Dave Harrison, Dave started well landing some clean shots that put his opponent on the back foot. Second round his opponent started to hold and pull Daves head down and land shots it was a scrappy round, but Dave landed the cleaner scoring shots. Third round and again Daves opponent went down the holding and punching route, we were calling for the ref to intervene but Daves opponent was hitting after being told to stop on several occasions. Dave met fire with fire and started to wrestle his opponent, but still landed cleaner shots. The final bell came and we were confident Dave had done enough to get the win, but the result went against him in a split decision. Fair play to Daves opponents coaches who said they thought their lad hadn't done enough to get the win. But we are super proud of how Dave boxed, and also handled the result.

Well guys, I'm back on Thursday and ready for this weekends Manchester Box Cup with Eli Sowerby, Nathan Loughran and Dave Harrison. Be good to get back into the flow and focus on the upcoming fights and new season. Gonna be a better season for us, I lost focus last year and fell out of love with the sport thinking we were losing the premises. But now we have a new owner on to bigger and better for this coming season.
