.....and finally the 3rd leg of the LGA "Super Sunday!"π
LGA Boys 7 v Stirlingshire Boys 1
-Colville Park
-Sunday 6 September
Our fantastic boys team finished their league campaign with a fine win over a young but extremely talented Stirlingshire boys team.
We also played some younger boys following their successful win last week over Ayrshire to give them some more experience.
We finish the campaign with another "invincible" season with 5 wins out of 5 and a match difference of 32 wins and only 8 points dropped.ππ
Another record.
This is our 4th WOS Inter County Boys Team Championship in the last 5 years and our 10th since the inception of the David Wishart Trophy in 1994, the most of any of the competing 6 WOS areas.
It is not a coincidence that we have been successful as we invest heavily in robust coaching and strength & conditioning programmes.
Our thanks go to our pro's Karyn Burns (KB Golf, EK), Alan McCloskey (Bothwell Castle), Derek Wright (Hamilton) & Duncan Williamson (Playsport).
Also our thanks go to our S & C coaches Colin Dickson PT (Airdrie) & CMax Health & Fitness (Larkhall).
To our ever young and enthusiastic Team Manager Ian Rankin and of course our wonderful and extremely talented 17 players;
Oliver Gill, Harry McLachlan, Zak McInnes & Charlie Barnstaple (all Lanark), Cammy Meldrum, Dylan McWilliam, Ramsay Purdon, Aaron & Oliver McCormack (all EK), Jack Barnes, Diarmuid Slavin & Leo McCallion (all Drumpellier), Tyler Sneddon & Mitchell Taylor (both Strathaven), Gabriel Burns (Bothwell), Dom Grant (Hamilton) & Matthew Kelly (Kirkhill).
Finally our thanks to Colville Park, Carnwath & Easter Moffat for giving us courtesy of their courses and facilities for our home matches.
Last but not least our thanks to our kit sponsors, The Station Dental Surgery.ππ

Our winners today were Wishaw following a fine 4-1 win.ππ
Hard luck to Larkhall and also well done on a fine run to the final.π
Our thanks to Carluke for hosting last week's SF's and today's Final.
The course was in great condition and top hospitality as always.π

LGA Champion of Champions
-Sunday 6.9.26.
-Cambuslang Golf Club
Well the rain went off just in time for this morning's SF's and the golf was top drawer!
In the first SF it was nip and tuck between Scott MacPherson (Bothwell Castle) & John Quinn (Greenhills). Scott had an incredible up and down at 18 to take the match down the 19th before a solid 2 putt birdie took Scott into the final.
In the other SF 18 years old Tyler Sneddon (Strathaven) was 1up through 9 against the very experienced Dylan Burt (Hamilton), before Dylan moved through the gears in the back 9 to seal a 3/2 victory.
Well done to John & Tyler on a great campaign.π
Onto the final which was tight the whole way round. Dylan and Scott shared 6 birdies on the back nine!
The decisive moment was when Dylan holed a 25 footer for a 2 at the 17th and won the match by 1 hole.ππ
Many congratulations to Dylan and also to Scott.π
Our thanks go to Cambuslang for hosting our C of C finals day and big thanks go to the greens team as the course was fantastic after the heavy rain right up to tee off this morning.ππ

Knockout Cup Semi Finals
-Colville Park 2.5 v Wishaw 2.5
-Airdrie 2.5 v Larkhall 2.5
-Carluke GC, Sunday 30.8.26.
The semi finals of our ever popular Knockout Cup took place yesterday at Carluke and we had 2 photo finishes!
Incredibly both games finished tied and in a holes up/down count back, Wishaw and Larkhall made the final by only 1 extra hole up!
Congratulations to the victors and hard luck to both Colville Park and Airdrie.
The players were very complimentary about the course and the games were played in great spirit and friendship.
The only rain was 3 torrential downpours for about 10 minutes each, but the course held up really well.π
Our thanks go to all at Carluke for hosting the event, but especially Lynne in the office , the pro shop team and the F & B teams.
Finally big thanks to the greens team for the presentation of the course.π
The final will take place at Carluke next Sunday 6.9.26 at 12 noon, between Wishaw and Larkhall.
Play well everyone.π
PS apologies for the "missing" four ball picture. We don't know what happened!π

Scottish Golf 2026 Boys Area Team Championship (ATC).
-Lochmaben Golf Course
-Saturday 12 & Sunday 13.9.26.
A tough decision to select a team of only 4 boys with so many of our boys performing so well at a county and national level.
Congratulations to the following boys;
Cameron Meldrum (East Kilbride)
15 years old Cammy has the lowest handicap index of the boys in the county at +2.1.
He was selected for the Scotland U16 team and has had an outstanding season winning 2 major events and finishing 2nd only last week.
This will be Cammy's 2nd appearance at the Boys ATC
Dylan McWilliam (East Kilbride)
17 years old Dylan plays off +1.1 and has had a string of top finishes in main events this season.
The current LGA Boys Match Play Champion and Runner Up in the LGA Boys Stroke Play Championship.
An experienced player making his debut in the Boys ATC.
Oliver Gill (Lanark)
16 years old Oliver has had an unbelievable season so far. He has got his handicap down to +1.0 and won a load of championships in the boys game as well as making his mark in the mens game;
Men's Match Play Champion
Men's Stroke Play 5th
Youth Stroke Play Champion
WOS Match Play Champion
Boys Stroke Play Champion
Boys Match Play Runner Up
U16 Stroke Play Champion
Boys OOM Winner
Oliver is making his debut in the Boys ATC.
Finally Team Captain Tyler Sneddon (Strathaven) off 0.6.
The vastly experienced 18 years old Strathaven player has had a solid season winning one main event and had several top finishes.
His schedule has been restricted due to work but he still managed to make the last 32 of the Scottish Boys.
This will be his 3rd appearance at the Boys ATC.
Team Manager Ian Rankin.
Play well in 2 weeks guys. π

WOS Boys Inter County League
-Lanarkshire 7 v Ayrshire 1
-Carnwath GC, Sun. 30 August
Following torrential rain at Crow Wood, which closed the course, we are indebted to Carnwath for giving us tee times to play this fixture at extremely short notice.π
Both teams had been badly affected due to many of their top players being asked to attend a Scottish Golf Regional Assessment Day (LGA 6, AGA 3).
This meant both area's gave debuts to many new and younger players. All great experience.
We gave debuts to 5 new players who all delivered at least 1/2 point.
Fantastic conveyor belt of talent in the county.π
Our 4th consecutive league win puts us in a strong position to win our 4th WOS League Championship in the last 5 years.
We are currently 2 points clear of Renfrewshire with one game remaining, and our "match difference" is +10 matches better than Renfrewshire.
Our initial thanks go to Crow Wood for offering to host the fixture and massive thanks to Carnwath for stepping in following the dreadful weather.
Special thanks to the Carnwath committee, Caddyshack for the food, the bar team and the pro shop team.
To the greens team, as the boys were very complimentary about the course, especially the greens.π
To our friends in Ayrshire thank you for agreeing to the late switch of venue and best wishes to your many young boys showing great potential.π
Our final match takes place next Sunday at Colville Park v Stirlingshire Golf Union.
A special mention of Tyler Sneddon (Strathaven) who played his last ever WOS boys match for us as he moves into the youth & men's events next season. Your match win record over the years has been phenomenal Tyler, and you have represented us, and Strathaven, with distinction.π
Thank you and best wishes in your career.
