I Started my fitness journey with Fisherrow Bootcamp back in late 2014, after seeing the results and determination of my sister Emma.
“Yes the nerves kicked in the first class, like anything new, but jeezo did that class give me the wake up call I needed.
Every class tested me, and often broke me, but I still turned up.
The results started to show and I felt a great sense of accomplishment in myself.
Alan, Karen and Velvet have been a massive support for me, as I suffer from a lung condition that can often be debilitating, and only just back in late 2024 I was diagnosed with Crohns.
That itself can be difficult, but I have to show up, as exercise can be the best for training the lungs as well as keeping me moving.
There can be days that make It difficult but having a great team, and coaches helps massively.
We are all here to support each other and encourage.
This is the difference.
It’s not an easy fix, but through focus, and commitment the results will come.

Had a heavy weekend of eating? Don’t panic you haven’t ruined your progress. 💪
At FBC Outdoor Fitness, i often remind people that one weekend doesn’t define your results. What matters most is what you do consistently over time.
A useful number to understand is 3,500 calories ≈ 1 lb of body fat. So, if you’ve had a weekend where you’ve eaten more than usual, that doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained pounds of body fat. Some of the extra weight you see on the scales can simply be water, glycogen and food volume.
The key is to get straight back into your normal routine rather than trying to “punish” yourself with extreme dieting or hours of cardio.
🏃 Get moving – Outdoor exercise is a great way to increase your daily energy expenditure.
🏋️ Lightweight training & endurance work – Resistance training combined with higher-repetition/endurance exercises can help you stay active, build muscular endurance and support your overall fitness.
🥗 Get back to balanced eating – Focus on sensible portions, plenty of protein, fruit and vegetables, and stay hydrated.
📊 Understand your calories – Calorie balance matters. You don’t need to starve yourself after a big weekend; simply getting back to an appropriate calorie intake and maintaining consistency is what makes the difference.
Most importantly, don’t let one weekend turn into a whole week off track.
Enjoy the weekend. Get back to training. Get back to your routine. Keep going.

💪 Ever wondered what actually happens to your muscles after a Fisherrow Bootcamp session?
You finish class, you’re sweaty, you’ve worked hard, and your muscles might be feeling a little tired… but the real work is only just beginning!
When we do resistance and weight training, we place stress on our muscles. This creates tiny amounts of muscle damage (nothing to panic about it’s a normal part of getting stronger!). Your body then gets to work repairing and rebuilding those muscles, making them stronger and more capable for the next session. 💥
And this is where protein becomes really important. 🥚🍗🥛
Protein provides the amino acids your body needs to repair and rebuild muscle tissue. So getting enough protein throughout the day, particularly after training, helps support that recovery process.
And before anyone thinks, “I don’t want to lift heavy weights because I don’t want to get bulky”…
Weight training doesn’t have to mean lifting massive weights!
Using a weight that challenges you, with good form and controlled movements, can be incredibly effective. Whether that’s dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands or your own bodyweight it all counts.
The aim isn’t necessarily to lift the heaviest weight in the room. It’s about challenging your body, progressing over time and getting stronger. 💪
So when you’re at Fisherrow Bootcamp, remember: the workout is the stimulus… but your recovery, nutrition and protein are a huge part of what helps your body adapt.
Train hard.
Eat well.
Recover.
Get stronger.
And then we go again! 🔥
See you at the next one! 👊

😁 1 half of the dynamic duo who have been valued clients for 11 years Stuart Turnbull
I joined FBC back in 2015, as I needed to do something to regain some level of fitness. To be honest I struggled to commit for the 1st 6 months but once it became part of my weekly routine I never looked back. As a result I became fitter than I had been for 30 years. The core fitness levels achieved through bootcamp also allowed me to start doing some longer distance running, and I've now done over 20 half marathons and one full marathon. I turned 60 this year and feel that having a regular fitness routine is even more important now.
For anyone thinking about joining, I would say, "go for it , you want regret it" well apart from when Alan gets you doing 50 burpees"

Whilst I appreciate some people may have no choice and absolutely need a quick fix for one reason or another …
Quick fixes don’t create lasting change. 💭
Whether it’s Mounjaro, a crash diet, detox, or the latest “miracle” solution anything that promises instant results can make us forget that real, lasting change takes time.
It’s not about finding the fastest way to change your body. It’s about building habits, confidence and a lifestyle you can actually maintain.
Small choices. Consistency. Patience. Progress.
Don’t chase a quick fix. Build a life that makes you feel good for the long term at our classes 💪

A few months ago, I decided I needed to do something about my weight, which was spiralling in the wrong direction. I felt unfit, and my blood pressure was constantly high.
I joined Fisherrow Bootcamp, changed my diet and started losing weight, but I felt I needed to do more to improve my fitness, so I decided to add some PT sessions with Alan.
My high blood pressure was a real worry. Even with medication, it just wasn’t coming down. To my surprise, after just four weeks at bootcamp, my blood pressure was back to normal and I’ve actually been able to reduce my medication with my doctor’s guidance.
I’ve now lost an amazing 11.7 kilos! 🎉 I feel so much fitter, have loads more energy, and I genuinely think it’s made a big difference to my mental health too.
Who knew I would actually like bootcamp?! 😂 The people are such a great bunch and everyone is so encouraging and supportive. Thanks to Alan and all who have pushed and encouraged me.
Feeling fitter, healthier and happier — and I’m not stopping here! ❤️💜💪🏃♂️
Don’t stop and well done Kay Baillie

I started at Fisherrow Bootcamp in July 2013, not really knowing what I was walking into—only that something in my life needed to change. The first few sessions tested me more than I expected. My body ached, my confidence wavered, and more than once I thought about giving up.
But I didn’t.
Each time I showed up, something shifted. A little more strength, a little more belief. The journey hasn’t been easy by any means—it’s been full of sweat, doubt, and hard lessons—but it’s also been full of growth, laughter, and moments I’m truly proud of.
What made the difference wasn’t just the training. It was the people. Alan, Karen, Velvet, and the whole team saw something in me even when I didn’t see it in myself. They kept pushing, encouraging, and reminding me why I started.
Looking back, joining Fisherrow Bootcamp is the best thing I’ve ever done. It didn’t just change my fitness—it changed my mindset, my resilience, and the way I see myself.
And the journey? It’s still going. Stronger than ever.
