Nacton played their last game of the season in a wonderful match against Woodbridge Cricket Club, the champions of our league.
This game was significant for so many reasons, firstly our opponents were chasing a win to get a record points tally, they achieved that goal, we congratulate them and wish them all the best for next season, a fine achievement.
Secondly we as a club were fighting for survival, we needed 6pts from our game to ensure we would stay in our league next season. We achieved that goal. Well done guys!
Some key performances from today were Yash Kumar with a sumptuous innings. Sarmad Waseem and Jack Coomber with excellent bowling and sharing the wickets we needed to secure the vital points.
Thirdly a selfish achievement was seeing my son Henry take his first ever 1st XI wicket! Im so proud of you son.
Lastly and most importantly, we sadly said goodbye to Jack Coomber today, Jack has been a Nacton player for 21 years and has been an integral part of our first team for many of those years, he was one of the first people to welcome me to the club when I joined. His presence around the club has been vital to our spirits and achievements. Always there with a supportive or condescending comment should it be required, he will be missed immensely. We wish both him and Lauren the best of luck in their new life up north!
An emotional day and emotional end to a wonderful season. Which has reminded us just why we love this game and our little club so much.
