🏡 UK Housing Market Update – Q2 2026
The latest MoverAlerts Property and Homemover Report suggests the UK housing market is showing encouraging signs of strength and resilience.

📈 Properties brought to market: Up 0.5% compared with Q2 2025, with the strongest growth among properties priced between £200k–£350k.

🤝 Sales agreed: Down 5.8% year on year, with Northern Ireland and Inner London seeing the largest declines in demand.

🔑 Exchanges: Up 2.8%, with activity particularly strong among higher-income households.

✅ Fall-throughs: Down a substantial 8.7% year on year – suggesting that while there may be fewer buyers in the market, those who are buying are more committed and increasingly likely to proceed once an offer is agreed.

📢 Member Update: Business Rates Advocacy
SSA UK and the British Association of Removers have jointly written to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade to highlight the risks posed by proposed business rates changes affecting large warehouse facilities. While aimed at the e‑commerce sector, a blanket, floor‑area‑based approach could unintentionally impose major cost increases on professional and self storage sites.

Our letter stresses that storage facilities operate in a completely different market, with distinct customers, margins and economic roles. We have requested a meeting with the Secretary of State to ensure the sector is properly understood and protected.

Simon Forrester, SSA UK: “Storage is essential infrastructure for households and businesses alike. We’re making sure Government understands the risks of lumping our sector in with e‑commerce.”

Andrew Large, BAR: “A one‑size‑fits‑all policy would be damaging and unfair. We’re working together to ensure members’ interests are heard at the highest level.”
