Westfield Bowls & Snooker Club - Nelson

Westfield Bowling Club open days got off to a great start last Saturday. The sun was shining and the morning was warm enough to be playing in shorts and tee shirts. We had a few new people come along to try bowls. It would be good to see more in the coming weekends as we are open again for the next 3 Saturdays.

Come along and give bowls a try.

The Westfield Bowling Club will be holding Saturday open mornings August 22nd and 29th and September 5th and 12th. We hope people will come along to see the club and what we have to offer. All are welcome.

The Firkin Trophy was held last Wednesday. It was a glorious sunny evening with seven matches between the President's teams lead by Peter Robinson and the Secretary's teams lead by Alan Foxcroft. A total of 28 players along with several spectators enjoyed some close bowling that saw the President teams come out a 5 - 2 winners on the evening. A traditional pie and pea supper was followed by the presentation of the Firkin trophy.

I'd like to thank all those that helped organise the successful evening and hope to see more entrants at next year's event.

15th July sees us having the Firkin Trophy bowls tournament at Westfield Club.

Club opens at 6pm for bowling starting at 6:30pm. A mix doubles competition between the Chairman's team and the Secretary's team. Honours going to the Secretary last year makes for a special comp this year.

A great day of bowling out at Broughton Bowling club, Skipton - Thursday last week.

A big thank you to Broughton Bowling club for hosting us last week. A great day was had by all. Close bowling with mixed doubles throughout the day.
