Charity day #2 of the week! Today our corporate partners Code Fitness are bringing 60 players along, with prizes and holes sponsored by local businesses!

Play is underway for our seniors section charity day, in aid of a hole in one prize of a new Peugeot has been sponsored by ! Good Luck to all who are playing!!

The 6th tee has been over seeded to help establish a thicker sward. The tee is currently being hand mown at a 15mm height of cut. Cutting more regularly will also encourage tillering. We are aiming to have the tee in play by July.

The 18th green has been brought in from the back left corner. This area of green is substandard and requires additional work. The solid white line shows where the ground under repair is. The staggered white lines are to show the greenstaff where the new greens and aprons cut will be.

25 bat boxes and 10 bird boxes have been placed around the course. Increasing the bat population on the back 9 will help lower mosquito activity.

Some of the new course equipment that’s arrived ready for the new season to start! Will all be in place on Saturday for the captains drive in! Metal hole cups, new tee markers, and a new set of flags and poles too.

Last week we stripped, levelled and seeded the 6th tee box. We can’t wait to see the results and hope the tee box will be back in play in May, with an aftercare program provided by Consolidate. This was done as part of a demonstration to other local green keepers of the Koro Top Field Maker machine, big thanks to Campey Turf Care for the work.

Yesterday was Lady Captains Drive in, the ladies turned out to support Captain Kath drive off the 1st tee, then a match play competition and finished off the day with a light lunch and a talk on the rules of golf, from a professional Referee. Good luck for the year to come Kath!!

Beautiful red sky this morning!

A frosty start today but what a beautiful day it’s turned into!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years codemn. We will remember them.

Last night saw the close of the season with our annual trophy presentation. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you too all who came along to celebrate!

Another windy day today but great to be hosting the for their first qualifying event St Andrews Links Championship. Good Luck to all the juniors involved, it’s going to be a tough round in this wind!

Today we welcomed the Nottinghamshire Amateur & Professional Golf Alliance on a very windy Wednesday! Despite the conditions some very good scores coming in and good fun had by all. Alex and his team have done a great job, lots of good feedback on the course condition.

Looking forward to welcoming NAPGA back in the spring for a team event!

A massive well done to Newark’s apprentice greenkeeper Henry Woodman for coming 3rd in the European long drive games in Cologne. Henry hit the longest drive of the day during the knockout at 398 yards. Keep up the good work Henry.

Congratulations to Luke Kirton who has today won the Rookie Shield in the Norwood Park Junior Golf Section Junior Open! Being new to golf, Luke has quickly taken to the sport and is advancing quickly with in our Saturday Junior Coaching sessions with Tom and Steve. Keep it up Luke, you have done us proud!!

Yesterday 3 of our juniors represented Newark at The Bill and Di Lamplugh memorial trophy at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Louis, Charlie and Dempsie won the competition and are going on to represent Newark in a 2 day event at Woodhall Spa. Well Done Boys!

Yesterday saw a very pleasing result on the putting green in the leatherjacket battle.

Greens work this morning, pre cut brush, cut, top dress then a mat to finish.

Overseeding greens surrounds with a 70/30 dwarf rye fescue mix at 35gm2. Germination rates should increase with the purchase of our new vredo disc seeder.

It was the perfect spring weather today, not long now everyone! You can see some of the pathway work on the first tee too in the first picture...

The course is starting to take shape over the last couple of weeks with the return of the Greenstaff and some friendlier weather.

It’s beginning to look at a lot like Christmas! Didn’t think we would be closing the course this early on but snow has stopped play here at Newark!
