IronMinds is BEYOND EXCITED to welcome Jess Weaver to the team for our development weekend!

Jess has made incredible strides not only in her rugby playing career but also on the other side of the pitch inspiring next generation athletes.

Jess will be talking to athletes about the real life pressures experienced of being an international rugby player. From captaining Team England to being the founder of Empire Rugby Academy in the UAE. She gives insight into the lifelong friendships, sacrifices, challenges, and glory but also the real life question of “what comes next” that so many athletes face at some point in time.

We can’t thank her enough for taking the time to talk with us and truly being an inspiration to young (and old 🫣) female athletes!

We have created a “Girls only” free rugby “taster program” The sessions are fun, safe, and non-contact for newcomers, focusing on skills development through playing games. Open to 7-14 year old Girls – Beginners and Girls who have been introduced to rugby as part of our schools festivals!
Starting Thurs 6th Nov from 7pm – 8:30pm for 5 weeks here at Kelham Road. The 6th and final session is on Weds 10th Dec with two times world cup winner Emily Scarratt!!

Match Report: Newark U16 Girls vs Paviors U16 Girls – NLD Conference Cup

Newark U16 Girls opened their NLD Conference Cup campaign in stunning fashion with an emphatic 76–15 victory over a spirited Paviors side.

From the first whistle, Newark set the tone with an outstanding defensive display, forcing turnovers and applying relentless pressure that led directly to four well-earned tries. Their defensive line speed and organisation continually pushed Paviors backwards, creating opportunities that Newark’s attack capitalised on with precision and flair.

In attack, Newark’s slick distribution out wide and intelligent running lines saw them exploit space across the park. The phases of play were impressive, combining patient build-up with explosive finishes. The girls showed great skill in both tackling and jackaling, consistently winning the breakdown battle and preventing Paviors from gaining momentum.

Set-piece dominance added another layer to the performance, with solid scrummaging and accurate lineout work providing the perfect platform for Newark’s backline to shine. Their ability to secure their own ruck ball gave them continuity and confidence throughout the match.
