It's my Birthday!
So just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the donations I have received! The target was hit on both which made my birthday even better.
From 2019 when I spent my 21st on a hospital ward followed by 2020 where we were all in lockdown, 2021 we had a small get together and the day after we all went into isolation after one person testing positive➕
2022 has been my year, I've got to have my birthday at work out in the sun all day helping with the climbing tower and artificial cave system!
And I feel so greatful for all the opportunities that I've had to do this year lest hope we keep growing!

Big thanks to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team and I hope one day we can meet up and you can show me how your day flows.

3 years ago today I was unlucky enough to take a fall while out climbing.
The original plan was to summit Toubkal one year after but Covid had different ideas.
Looking back at where I was from recovery I probably wouldn't have made it to the summit that year.
However this year was the year for me with improved strength and a long wait it was a great achievement summiting with the full group by my side.
It's also one week before my birthday and it would be amazing if the mountain rescue and air ambulance pages could hit their targets by then!

And just need to say a huge thank you to everyone who's shown me support and helped get me to the summit.

5am start to get us up and early to the summit.
We set off in the dark using head torches we crossed a small river and headed over the snow.
The higher up I got the harder it was to breathe which made the strap sections even harder to climb! We slowed the pace down to keep us moving steadily and the relief of seeing the summit made it hard to get the smile off my face.😃
We had a short break taking in the views with a few essential snacks.
And then it was time to head back down to Imlil we where filled with energy and a buzz from the summit with the feeling we could have walked for days!
12 hours since leaving the refuge we made it safely back to Imlil with sore feet and tired legs but still beaming with joy. 🚿showers where definitely first on the list filled closely by 🍽️ tea a great big tagine.

A big thank you has to be said to our guides Carl and Paul from Mountain Escape: Walk-Scramble-Climb who made the trip possible and very enjoyable

First recap of our journey up to the refuge hut there was some stunning views and felt let s breeze walking up after the fee tough training days we'd had!
We arrived with plenty of time to take in the views, play some card games and have some pasta before our early start for the summit.

With Sunderland winning at Wembley there couldn't be a better way to get you in a good mood for summiting Toubkal!🏔️

Although there's no internet up the mountain surprisingly so you'll hear from me in a few days time.

It's been a day of rest to give our muscle a chance to calm down before we set of for toubkal on Sunday! Strava had a moment so says we walked in a perfectly straight line due to a glitch.
But we've walked up to the waterfalls a few times today then a trip round the shops of Imlil trying a bit of bartering.

Day 3 remembered to press record on the longest day so far, hitting highs of 28°
My shoes seem to have felt the impact and are falling apart! Good job I've got my boots to wear.
Geoffrey suffered an injury so has a temporary repair until we fly back home.
