💙⚽️ Blakelaw FC – More Than Just Football ⚽️💙
Tonight, representatives from Blakelaw FC attended a local community meeting to discuss the recent antisocial behaviour affecting our area.
It was really positive to see so many people and organisations in one room, including the local police, fire service, council, elected representatives, Stagecoach and members of our community, all coming together because we care about the area we live in and the young people within it.
We were proud to speak about the role Blakelaw FC plays in our community. We now around 400 children and young people at our club, supported by up to 70 volunteers who give up their own time week after week.
For us, football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch. It’s about giving young people somewhere to go, something positive to be part of, role models, friendships and a sense of belonging. 💙
The police and fire service talked through some of the work and plans being put in place to tackle the issues we have been experiencing, and there were some really positive discussions and ideas raised throughout the evening.
A big thank you to our local Reform councillors, who represent our ward, for organising tonight’s meeting, and also to representatives from the other political parties who attended. It was great to see politics put to one side and everyone focused on what really mattered tonight — our amazing community and the people who live in it.
Most importantly, tonight genuinely felt like a community coming together. There is still work to do, but a lot of positives came out of the meeting and there was a real feeling that everyone wants to work together to make our area a safer and more positive place for our children and young people.
Blakelaw FC is proud to be part of this community and proud of the part our volunteers, coaches, parents and players play in it. 💙⚽️
