End of season award for the u10 Yellows.
What a season we have had. Years of hard work, rising up the ranks, getting to the second top division of Northumberland Football Leagues. It was a really tough one, but we showed where we belong, at the very top.
Top goalscorer, Player of the season, Parents Player: Alex McCartney
Myself and Jack explained to all parents that any awards that came out, would stand. And Alex thoroughly deserved the 3 awards that he got. Absolute monster across the season, playing up top for the majority, but also with stints in CM and at the back, his presence was felt in every single game. Strong, fast, great eye for a pass and a great strike, he can single handedly take control of games on his day. We look forward to seeing more of Alex next season on the bigger 9 aside pitch.
Most improved: Ewan Gallagher
What a season for this young man. Outstanding from the first kick. A proper spine of the pitch player so is strong and physical, had a great long pass, remnant of Fabian Schar. Ewan’s footballing season hasn’t come without his own difficulties this year, but he comes out with a completely deserved most improved award and a great foundation to build on going into 9 aside.
Players player: Lucas Stephenson
Lucas is a player that I think that a lot of his peers aspire to be like. Calm, collective, good on the ball, always positive, and always wanting his team to win. Playing largely at the back and filling in on the wing, Lucas has been solid every single game throughout the season and has been the most consistent player week in week out. The fact that his teammates voted for him is a testament to his attitude and play across the year.
Coaches player of the season: Dom Chilton
Midfield maestro. Sitting in, spraying balls across the pitch and coming away with probably a long range strike 1 in every 2 games. Dom has become the complete midfielder. Dom we already knew had the technicality from the season before that he has improved on, however his attitude to the game has improved massively. Grafting from the first minute to the last. Carrying coaches bags up from my car to the pitch, maintaining a good attitude after games win lose or draw. A very well deserved award.
Our last presentation as Westerhope Yellows. Been an absolute ride, especially those that have been there from the start. But we look onwards and upwards to a new challenge soon.

Friendly for the lads today against a great footballing side and our first 9 aside friendly as a Sunday side. We came out and played immediately some very quick and fast football and went a couple of goals up early. And we never slowed down for the whole game.
Some incredible football and teamwork lead to a 6 goal display. The goals spread across Alex, Jamie, Jack G, Jack Mc and Lucas.
Oppositions MOTM went to Tyler. Rock solid at the back and battled very hard all day long with their danger man on the left hand side. Worked well in partnership with Lucas and Ewan when at the back and always looked to play forward.
Coaches MOTM went to Jack G. First game in the Yellows side and showed his quality straight away. Causing the opposition defender havoc all day long, beating his man just enough to put multiple quality deliveries in across the day.
Well done all, onward and upwards🔥⚽️

In my first game as coach as the Westerhope United U7 Yellows, having 0 idea what to expect as a newly qualified coach, unsure if I was going to pursue coaching any further after the initial season..
To our final game with Westerhope U10 Yellows, putting that same effort I asked in our first game as a coach, taking the 2nd place team in the league to the sword, and conceding in the final minute for a heartbreaking defeat.
However, these past years as coach of these lads have been an incredible experience for me. From coaching with my best friend, to bringing my brother on board and coaching with him, to creating and growing a new club.
The journeys not over yet. All of these lads got our MOTM today, for making our final game as Westerhope U10 Yellows coach a one to remember.
Yellows coach Ben, signing out for the season.
Plenty to look forward to.
For one last time.

The lads played a really impressive game of football despite defeat on Sundays game early over by the coast.
The wind played a huge part in each half. The opposition taking advantage in the first half, and us taking advantage in the second, unfortunately for us the opposition came up tops.
Despite this, we were missing a couple of key pieces and still played some very neat football. Passing and moving and driving into the space.
MOTM from opposition and coaches went to Alex. Outstanding individual performance, scoring all 3 of our goals on the day, some being incredible efforts. I reckon the form he was in on the day, you could have stuck him up front against u12/13s and he would have scored goals!
Well done everyone. Last game of the season on Sunday, let’s end on a high.

Good solid performance from our lads today to gain a well earned point against a great side.
We started the game very quickly and had the opposition pinned in for the first 15 minutes of the game. Not giving them a second on the ball and creating some fantastic chances. We went 1-0 up through a great ball in from Arlo and a good finish through Alex.
We went in to half time up and looking comfortable.
The opposition came back into the game a bit second half and a very unfortunate own goal brought them level. We battled hard and both teams had chances to win it. But the lads put in a much improved performance than the last few weeks to earn a well deserved point.
Coaches MOTM went to Arlo. Really good performance out wide. Driving into good areas, putting in some good set pieces and working well with the centre midfielders and strikers.
Oppositions MOTM went to Tyler, did a shift both on the wing and at the back. Was always looking to shift the ball on the diagonal and play forwards.
Great performance lads. We play the same opposition next week and hope to turn 1 point into 3⚽️

Better performance today from the past couple despite a defeat.
The lads started quite well. In training we have worked on playing comfortably under pressure. And we did that well for the most part today. Recieving the ball head up and either looking for a pass or being direct and driving forward.
Despite this we went 2-0 down. We then equalised through Alex, who scored a great finish into the bottom corner.
We then conceded a goal to go 3-1 down and heads dropped slightly and the game got away from us. Generally though, a much improved performance.
Coaches MOTM went to Dom. Who really channeled his efforts into what we had worked on. Recieved the ball in tight areas, was brave with his decisions and footwork.
Oppositions MOTM went to Alex. Worked hard up top and at the back. Put some big challenges in, and capped his performance off with a goal.
Unlucky lads, we keep training, playing hard, and look to wind our season down with improved performances.

Better late than never!
The lads came up against a very strong side in the league on Sundays who had lots of players who had been in and out of the shadow and academy systems.
We starters quite well, matching them across the board. But after a couple of unfortunate goals conceded, the game quickly got out of reach for the lads.
Despite that, we kept on battling until the end.
There are a lot of lessons being learned playing at such a high level, and tough games will only show the lads resilience skills, and drive them even further to try and improve their craft.
Coaches MOTM went to Tyler. Who played a couple of different positions across the day, and never game up throughout, trying to burst through the lines best he could.
Oppositions MOTM went to Alex, who was strong in pressing from the front. And probably created our best chances of the game from winning the ball high.
We go again next week..⚽️⚽️⚽️

One to forget today for the lads, went 1-0 up but struggled as the game went on. Against a physical side we gave as good as we got, but the opposition played better football on the day, and deserved their first win against us this season.
Back to training on Tuesday to work on some improvements, and as always, we go again!
MOTM was Dominic, did all he could winning the ball back up high, getting people involved and capped off with a goal, and Alex for a hard working game and who got a mention from the referee; just popped for MOTM by Dom.
Onto next week⚪️🟡⚫️⚽️
