Another year and another player of the season 💙.
Words can’t describe how proud I am of this type 1 diabetic warrior, nothing phases him he just enjoys life day in day out, what a little legend!!!
What can I say about his bro and partner in crime 🤣, an absolute lunatic with a heart of absolute gold, never change little man 💙.

This boys season has come to an end and what a player he is, phenomenal little goalkeeper ⚽️💙.

As you know diabetes is something me and my son both live with as well as many of my followers!
With this being so close to our hearts my amazing sister .88 will be taking on the full great north run💪.
On top of that I am running both kids ones in the same day with all of the kids including my diabetic son 🫡.

Unbelievable weekend of celebrations starting with two night in a beautiful lodge with the kids and ❤️.
Followed by a family meal with all my favourite people❤️

This body looks strong.
But recently, my mind wasn’t.
I went through a mental breakdown dealing with anxiety and depression. On the outside, everything looked fine. On the inside, I was fighting battles I didn’t talk about.
Strength isn’t just physical. It’s asking for help. It’s getting back up. It’s facing your thoughts instead of running from them.
If you’re struggling silently you’re not weak. You’re human. And you’re not alone.
Both training and nutrition took a hit over the past few months but a solid foundation was already in place allowing me not to fall away completely.
I had so much love and care that I honestly didn’t feel I had from family, friends, clients ( friends ) my girlfriend , of course .gym_ncl and even my ex wife Nina.
Without all of these people i simply wouldn’t be here today and a special mention has to go to my sister .88 who has been my rock and literally dragged me to the doctor to begin getting help.

With this being the time a lot of people are unwell especially diabetics 😂 here’s a few pointers to help you all out 🫡.
1. Check bloods more often and be religious with this.
2. Don’t smash workouts, listen to your body. If your body is already in fight mode strenuous lifting will ensure a longer recovery time.
3. Stay hydrated, dehydration will make you feel a million times worse aim for at least 2l per day.
4. Watch for ketones, if these are high add insulin - get your sugars back as far towards target as possible.
5. Nutrition is still key, prioritise protein to protect muscle.
Use simple foods like eggs, yogurt and even a protein based soup.
6. Rest, you won’t lose all your hard work with a few days off- let the body recover and come back stronger 💪.

Type 1 diabetic??
It looks simple and guess what the majority of it is when you understand your body, have insulin requirements nailed.
Side note insulin may be required for fats and proteins at a smaller rate when/ if carbs are low or not present, everyone’s requirements will be different.
The one thing that is a must is locking in those insulin ratios to suit your training activities 💪.
