Dear Bexhill 5K Series Participants,

Following the extension of the Red Weather Warning across parts of Southern England this afternoon, and after careful consideration of the forecast conditions for this evening, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight's Bexhill 5K Series event.

While Bexhill itself is not within the area covered by the Red Warning, the forecast for 7:00pm remains challenging, with temperatures expected to be around 30°C and humidity levels approaching 60%.

We have consulted with our medical team, who have advised that these conditions present an elevated risk of heat-related illness, particularly during sustained physical exertion. Their recommendation was that proceeding with the event would expose runners, volunteers, marshals and spectators to an unacceptable level of risk.

The safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in the event must remain our highest priority. Taking into account the latest weather forecasts and the advice of our medics, we do not believe it would be responsible to proceed under these conditions.

We appreciate that many of you will be disappointed, particularly given the effort and preparation that goes into race day, and we share that disappointment. However, we are confident that postponement is the right decision.

We are currently working on arrangements for a replacement date and will communicate further details as soon as they are confirmed.

We're pleased to announce that following entries and donations we have been able to make a donation of £1000 to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal!

Plans are underway for the 2026 event and entries will be open in the New Year.
