You wonât see me in many pictures, but for those who donât know me⌠Iâm the face behind the studio. đ¤
A mum. A girl in her mid-40s. A corporate career woman. And the very proud owner of our studio.
Sometimes I ask myself, why do I keep doing it?
Is it for the money?â¨I take no salary, and the studio is a not for profit charity. I pay my bills through my day job and my role as a non-executive of one of the biggest housing associations in the North East.
Is it to invest more time in myself?â¨Quite the opposite. I have very little spare time, a full-time job, an 11-year-old son and ageing parents.
So why?
I do it because I love Pilates.
It has been part of my life for nearly 20 years, as have some of the incredible instructors who are part of our studio family.
Pilates has been there through marriage, divorce and raising my family. Itâs seen me through good times and not-so-good times with my health. It has given me strength, physically and mentally, and somewhere to switch off when life has felt a little overwhelming.
Itâs become part of who I am. And thatâs why I wanted to create something more than just a Pilates studio.
A studio that supports our family through the good times and the bad. A place that gives you an hour of escapism and self-love when you need it most.
Somewhere comfortable and welcoming to all ages, abilities and sexes.
A place where we look out for each other. Where youâre greeted with a warm smile, friendly banter and, more often than not, a laugh or two.
An extended family.
So, have we achieved that? Come and see for yourself. đ¤
And if youâre already part of our studio family, thank you. Youâre the reason I keep doing it.
