🤔💯
What’s the biggest factor holding you back from being who you want to be?
-
In my experience one of the largest barriers to anyones internal happiness and success is the fear of how they are ‘perceived.’
-
By our own doing we live in a world where our lives play out for the world to see. Through social media we paint a picture of how we want other people to externally view us.
-
Our thoughts and actions are left wide open to the scrutiny and judgment of others.
-
How many times have you altered your behaviour or doing what you want to do because you fear what others think?
-
Some of the most successful and happiest people I have seen seem to have managed this ‘fear of perception;’ choosing to live a life largely on their own terms.
-
When I look back on my own journey I recognise just how much I was bound by such constraints.
-
Awkward in group environments, my motivation to get ‘in shape’ due to the acceptance of others, scared to post on social media as it might invite criticism.
-
Recognising and understanding that criticism comes with the territory. Anybody with a big goal, will inevitably invite external criticism often from people who are not willing to take those steps themselves.
-
Learning to switch your mindset from that of external validation to internal gratification is a key component of this.
-
Like anything this takes practice and a lot of self reflection.
-
Understand that ultimately no matter what you do people will have something to say about it; however; in my experience being authentic to yourself and passions largely attracts the right type of people to your life.

✅✅📉
-
Starting week 3 of this diet and around 13lbs down.
-
Very happy with the changes already and feeling 10x better for it.
-
I invested a lot in my gaining phase over the previous 12 months and although it’s not pretty it was absolutely necessary; however I had got to the point where I was starting to feel uncomfortable both physically and mentally and needed the change in direction for a couple of months.
-
Building muscle takes time, fat loss on the other hand is ‘relatively’ easy.
-
I like the analogy of; building muscle is like riding your bike uphill where as fat loss is like going down hill. It takes alot more time and effort but that’s the part people don’t want to do.
-
With my 30th 🥲 and stag do over the next couple of weekends things may slow down a bit before getting the head down for another 6 weeks, with the goal spending the rest of 2022 pushing back up again setting myself up for a successful prep early 2023.

🏡💚
-
Only a short visit but I always love getting home.
-
I think the older you get the more your perspective shifts on what you truly value.
-
When I left 5 years ago I was in a completely different place than where I am today.
-
Life is short, make it sweet 💯

💪🏻💪🏻🗡🏆
-
Session this morning with soon to be ifbb pro (in my opinion) 💯
-
This is one of the things I love most about coming home; catching up with everyone and training.
-
It’s a small town but it’s my town 💚

📉📉
-
12 days into this diet and sitting around 10lbs down.
-
So far so good and it’s been a nice break from cramming food.
-
Like most people I’m naturally impatient too; but it’s important to remind yourself that all things are an investment of time and effort.
-
Do what you need to do everyday and good things happen.
-
My limbs always come in fairly quickly and the torso is always behind. It was hell getting the lower back and abs in during prep last year, so I won’t be entering that territory this time around.
-
9 weeks to go 💪🏻

⚖️⚖️🤔
-
Let’s talk balance
-
This might be a little controversial but in my experience ‘balance is an illusion’
-
Let me explain:
-
What does balance mean to you and how does that marry with your goals and expectations?
-
The higher your expectations on yourself are set, the further the pendulum has to swing in one direction.
-
A balanced approach to nutrition, training, work, relationships; whichever one of these you want to see grow the most, then unfortunately there will be a trade off in other areas.
-
That’s life
-
What you have to decide is where you are wanting to place your energy and what you are willing to trade off in pursuit of success in one of these fields.
-
You want to eat off plan 3 days per week?… thats cool, but your probably not going to get ‘in shape’
-
Want to build a successful business or get a first in your dissertation? … well you better be prepared to get the head down and put in some graft
-
Want to spend more time with the family; then consider if work and finances ultimately have to take a hit
-
What we have to decide is ‘what will bring us the most happiness not just in the short but also over the long term.’
-
I’ve seen a growing trend in this softly, softly approach to preach ‘success’ in a particular pursuit.
-
Why because it sells? We don’t want to be uncomfortable; we want to have our cake and eat it.
-
I’m here to tell you there is absolutely nothing wrong with hard work if it brings you future joy.
-
‘Uncomfortable’ can be good; it forces change.
-
After we have achieved a higher degree of success in a particular field, then we can switch focus to other aspects we want to grow.
-
Balance is a seesaw; staying in the middle means you often get nowhere. 💯

🙏🙏💚

-
‘I’ve been training with Neil for what feels like forever and no matter what the end goal, be that competing in a bodybuilding show or just prepping for a photoshoot he has helped me bring my absolute best.
-
The knowledge he has from training to nutrition is above and beyond. I’ve always been a picky eater and had the diet of a child and he still found a way to help me get stage ready working with my awful food picks 😂
-
Not only has Neil been the best coach he’s also became an amazing friend along the way, willing to deal with all the stupid questions and barrels of emotions prep brings, could ask for a better coach! Bring on the next chapter 💪🏻’

🏆🏆🏆💚
-
The final show of the season for and and we brought the whole squad to celebrate; which we did 🍷😂
-
Sasha took another outstanding 3rd place out of 11 ending with a placing in every single show in her first season.
-
To say I’m proud of this achievement is an understatement and it’s been quite the journey over the last 5 months; Sasha has heaps of potential in whatever we decide to do moving forward.
-
Kelsey brought her best to stage and presented with her usual sass. The girl on that stage yesterday was unrecognisable from the person that started with me 3 years ago both physically and mentally 💚
-
As a coach you play a small role in someone’s journey, you can give advice, support and accountability but ultimately it comes down to the individual to create discipline and drive to see that goal through.
-
Both these girls have shown that in abundance.
-
This is about much more than just a show and transfers beyond ‘bodybuilding’.
-
Seeing the support from everyone and everyone that came to watch shows the impact that can be made and how that can inspire and bring people together.
-
A shout out to who took the overall and has all the potential in the world moving forward
-
To on looking shrink wrapped at his first ever show.
-
To who helped the girls present themselves on stage and was definitely a major strength up there.
-
To even bigger and better things next time around 🙌🏻💚

✅✅
-
Wrapping up a busy week culminating in and final show of the season tomorrow. 🏆
-
After spending the first part of last year in lockdown and prepping; I wanted to make the next 12 months about really establishing and growing my business both online & 1-1.
-
Goal setting is something we stress a lot to clients and our coaches on the mentorship.
-
Where do you want to be a 1 to 5 years from now ?
-
What steps do you need to take this day, week, month to assure those goals are met.
-
Be specific, set a timescale and plan a course of action.
-
A goal without a plan is just a dream.
-
Coming out of lockdown I wanted to make sure that my business couldn't be shut down overnight again.
-
This meant growing an online service that could match the personal level of my 1 to 1.
-
I wanted to establish myself as the trainer you go to in the North East if you want to transform your body and be educated along the way.
-
None of this happens over night and you have to be willing to invest time, effort, money and passion.
-
What do you want out of the next 6 months?
-
Write it down, make it a priority then go do something about it.
-
The world owes you nothing; it isn't given, its earned. 💯

💯💯
-
First pic was a few weeks after I royally f*%ked myself up tearing my adductor and groin 18 months ago.
-
I’m at a point now where I’ve been trying to work round and rehab knee tendinitis that has plagued my training the first part of this year.
-
This isn’t me making excuses but more to point out that sometimes s**t happens.
-
You have to take ownership for it, learn from it and find a way to keep moving forward in some capacity.
-
Too often we give up at the first sign of ‘hardship’ rather than taking a step back and finding a different route to keep moving forward. 💯
