Its a great time to start training outdoors as Spring has arrived.

Your first session is half price.

I train behind the Law Courts on Newcastle Quayside.

You walk past Tesco Express onto Broad Chare, where I train is called the Sandgate Egg Sculpture on Google maps.

It’s a nice quiet location.

Or I can train you at your home if you live nearby on the Quayside or Newcastle City Centre. This works well for some of my clients.

See website in bio for all the details and prices.

I train outdoors behind the Law Courts on Newcastle Quayside.

You walk past Tesco Express onto Broad Chare, where I train is called the Sandgate Egg Sculpture on Google maps.

It’s a nice quiet location that is in the shade so doesn’t get too hot in the summer. And working out outdoors is really nice, especially if you have been working in an office all day!

There is plenty of space for running, the sculpture steps are used for tricep dips, there are stairs nearby for running up if appropriate, and then the area next to the egg sculpture is used for strength and core work. So a really good outdoor space for training in.

Or I can train you at your home if you live nearby on the Quayside or Newcastle City Centre. This works well for some of my clients.

See website in bio for all the details and prices. First session half price!

Stretching is really important after training but this can often be overlooked or if stretching is carried out the stretches are not held for long enough to provide any real benefit.

My clients always stretch at the end of their session. I walk them through a full body stretch. The benefits of this include:

Restoring range of motion
Maintaining flexibility
Reducing muscle stiffness

Hamstrings in particular can become tight, this can lead to lower back pain, imbalances of muscles and knee pain.

See photos showing hamstring stretches with a strap (or you can use something like a dressing gown cord or a belt).

- Hold each stretch for 30 seconds.
- Breathe nice and slowly, this allows the muscles to relax.
- Start with one leg at a time and then finish with both legs in the strap. Pull with your arms to increase the stretch.

Try this yourself or you could book a session with me.

Here is one of my clients doing the high plank, a great core exercise. This looks easy but it’s not and correct technique is really important!
As you can see she is in a plank (in a straight line) - bum not sticking up, lower back not collapsing as the abdominals are strongly engaged, shoulder blades plugged down and in and hands are directly under the shoulders.
Then once you have the technique nailed you work on holding the position for as long as you can without compromising form.
This is where working with a PT is useful as they can spot when this happens and ask you to correct or have a rest and then go again.
Doing the high plank properly helps you build stability and strength throughout your entire body and improves your posture.
It is often overlooked by people say doing a lot of cardio but you need to keep your core strong to complement this type of training and to reduce the chance of injury.
I always include core work as part of my sessions and this is just one of the core exercises I use. If you fancy trying some core work with me just get in touch, website in bio!

Quayside lockdown January 2021.
I train just behind where this shot was taken and whilst waiting for a client I took this photo.
Not a soul in sight and look how pretty the buildings are that make up Broadchare.

I went for a walk along the Quayside up the river last week. I love the colour of the Autumnal trees, beautiful 🍂.
And it makes me feel so much better getting out into nature especially in these hard times.
Try to get out walking as much as you can, especially on days like this!

First remote session using zoom at the weekend with one of my clients. It was surprisingly easy, we both enjoyed it!
That’s me in the iPad giving instructions 🙂
In these strange times it’s definitely a time to adapt in order to survive as a small business.

Get in touch via my website if you are interested in remote training.
