🌟 🏆 ICYMI - Tier 2 Game Day 1 Results 🏆 🌟

Last week the Dekstars opened up the Tier 2 season with points on the board in two end to end games with the Thunderbirds.

We shot out of the blocks in Game 1, Coach West netting five to help open up a six goal cushion headed into the third period. The Thunderbirds came roaring back to make it 6-5, before Coach Hirst sealed the win with an empty net tally.

Roles were reversed in Game 2 as the Thunderbirds led 4-1 headed into the second period. We kept the intensity and pressure up and finally made the breakthrough, getting goals on the board and ending the period with a buzzer be**er from Marcus Rutter to tie the game. With both goalies remaining resolute in the third, spoils were shared at 4-4.

With a win and a tie, that has us starting the season strong on 4pts.

🌟🏃🏻 Running with the ‘Stars 🏃🏻‍♀️🌟

We’d like to wish everyone taking part in the Great North Run good luck, including our five favourite runners!

There’s no rest for the wicked as Coach Leafy, Alex Browell, Emma Dixon and Coach JC are all swapping the ball hockey kit for running trainers, “fresh” from our win and draw at yesterday’s season opening Tier 2 games.

Lisa Eden is also going to be bounding her way towards South Shields!

If you’re one of the +60,000 runners, or just lining the streets to cheer, make sure to get loud for them!

🌟🏆 BHUK Tier 2 2026/27 Game Day 1 🏆🌟

After a very busy summer…we’re back!

The North East Dekstars kick off the 2026/27 season on Saturday with two games against the Thunderbirds.

Come and support the black and blue in our first outing of the season!

🌟🇬🇧 North East Dekstars x Team GB Legends 🇬🇧🌟

It’s not only on court that we’re flying the Dekstar flag with Team GB! With plenty of international experience between then, we have another 5 Dekstars split across both Men’s and Women’s Legends teams.

Our Dekstars coaching team are leading the Men, with James “Leafy “ Dixon as Head Coach and David “JC” Hirst as Assistant Coach. The Women’s and Men’s Team Manager roles are taken by Joy Hirst and Darren Elliott respectively. Emma Dixon and Alex Browell finish their GB summer as staff for both teams.

🌟🇬🇧 North East Dekstars x Team GB Legends 🇬🇧🌟

Our final group of 2026 international Dekstars representing Team GB are currently one day into the 2026 Legends World Championships in Cernosice, Czechia.

We have Alison Haygarth, Lisa Eden and Julia Armstrong on the Women’s team, joined by Paul Robinson and Darren Elliott for the Men’s team.

🌟🇬🇧 North East Dekstars x Lionesses 🇬🇧🌟

We’re proud to say we have more Dekstars wearing Team GB colours for international hockey!

Holly Jubb, Sophie Oxley and Paige Brooks are all taking part in the Ladies Cup in 🇸🇰Spišská Belá as part of the GB Lionesses, giving them a taste of competitive international ball hockey.

They’re also joined by a team of Lioness Legends, warming up for the 2026 Legends World Championships. Keep your eyes peeled for a reveal of our Dekstar GB Legends next week!

🌟🇬🇧 North East Dekstars x Team GB 🇬🇧🌟

The North East Dekstars are extremely proud to have some of our finest representing Team GB at The 2026 World Championships in Ostrava, Czechia. Our quartet will be facing off against the best in the world for the tournament that runs from 20th to 28th June.

Emma Dixon will be taking part in her 4th international tournament (2017, 2019, 2022), Caitlin Eastwood gets her first senior call up after representing Team GB U20 Women (2025) and Alex Browell makes her debut on the international stage. After four tournaments as a senior player (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017), our Chairwoman Joy Hirst take the role of Team Manager.

🌟 2025/26 Dekstars Awards Night 🌟

On Saturday night, the Dekstars celebrated the end of a long domestic season with the 2025/26 Awards Night. The winners were chosen with club-wide voting, along with the coaching team picking the club’s Most Improved player and Coaches Player Of The Year.

🌟🏆 Ball Hockey UK Tier 2 🏆🌟

The North East Dekstars’ Tier 2 season comes to a close with a Semi-Final defeat by Nottingham Titans BHC.

After a closely fought game, the Titans took it 5-3. They will face Sheffield Steelers Ball Hockey in the final.

We’ll be celebrating our season soon with Awards Night, but attention turns to international affairs as we have multiple Dekstars representing Team GB in a number of tournaments. More to come soon!

🌟🏆 Ball Hockey UK Tier 2 Playoffs 🏆🌟

After a long season of hard work, it all comes down to this!

The Dekstars are headed to Skate Central for a Playoff Semi-Final battle with Nottingham Titans BHC.

Face off is at 9.20am on Saturday morning, with the winner advancing to a 4.30pm Tier 2 Playoff Final against
Sheffield Steelers Ball Hockey or Nottingham Hawks.
