⚫️⚪️ A new chapter begins… ⚫️⚪️

After three fantastic seasons together, our Milan girls are about to embark on their first season of competitive football.

On Saturdays, we’ll be competing in the Girls Premiership. The target is clear, we’re aiming to make it four unbeaten league seasons in a row. It won’t be easy, but these girls have never backed down from a challenge. They continue to raise the bar, push each other every week, and keep growing together as a team.

On Sundays, we step into the unknown as we take on Division 6 of the Boys/Mixed League. It’s a huge step up, but that’s exactly why we’re doing it. The girls are excited to test themselves, embrace the challenge, and see just how far they can go.

Across both leagues, we’ve also entered four cup competitions, giving the girls even more opportunities to challenge themselves, create memories, and continue their development.

This season isn’t just about winning games, it’s about learning, improving, supporting one another, and representing Newcastle City Juniors Milan with pride every time we step onto the pitch.

We’re ready.

Match Report: U12 Milan vs U12 Whickham FC

Pre-season continued for U12 Milan with another excellent test against a strong Whickham FC side, who will be competing in the same division as us this season.

It was a brilliant game for the neutral and a proper test for the lasses. Whickham took the lead through a fantastic header, and despite chances at both ends, that proved to be the only goal of the game.

The match was end-to-end, physical and played at a really good standard. Milan created a hatful of chances, forcing the Whickham keeper into some excellent saves, while on other occasions we were just missing the target. Both teams played some neat, tidy football and can come away knowing they left everything on the pitch.

For us, the result wasn’t the important part. It was another opportunity to get valuable minutes into the legs and, more importantly, see how the girls handled the level we’re stepping into this season.

After speaking with the lasses afterwards, one thing is clear — we’ve 100% made the right decision stepping up the level on a Sunday. The challenge is exactly what this group needs, and today’s performance showed we’re more than ready to embrace it. 💪🏼

Pre-season is about testing ourselves, learning and improving, and today showed once again what this group is capable of when they match their football with the right attitude, intensity and belief.

I honestly don’t know where to start with this group…

Today, our Milan U12 Girls were invited to an Academy Festival in Wigan, lining up alongside academies including Liverpool, Celtic, Tranmere Rovers, Bohemians Dublin, Linfield, Doncaster Rovers and Kilmarnock.

We knew the level. We knew the challenge.

The lasses embraced it. 💪🏼

They topped their group UNBEATEN and WITHOUT CONCEDING A SINGLE GOAL, earning a place in the Top 4 seeded group, seeded ahead of huge names including Celtic and Liverpool. That alone is an unbelievable statement from this group.

The final seeded group put Milan up against some of the strongest girls’ academy sides from Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

With games shortened due to the tournament running over, the girls produced three 0-0 draws. Bohemians Dublin eventually finished overall winners after winning their final game 1-0, with the planned final unable to be played.

So Milan finish 2nd overall.

But just think about this…

The levels and standards these girls continue to set and push are INCREDIBLE. They don’t care about the badge on the opposition shirt. They compete, they work for each other and they believe they belong at this level.

And today, they proved it. 👊🏼

A massive thank you to the organisers and to every club, coach, player and parent we met. To hear so many positive comments about the Milan U12 Girls throughout the day means an unbelievable amount.

Couldn’t be prouder of these lasses. What a group. What a statement. 💪🏼⚽️

Since a jump in leagues for Milan on a Sunday, we go again with an another very good test against an established side. The girls and coaches are looking forward to the challenge 💪🏼

The alarm clocks are set as the Milan girls and parents hit the road early tomorrow morning, heading to Wigan for the Therme Academy Festival. 🚌⚽️

This is an invite-only tournament, and we’re incredibly proud to have Newcastle City Juniors Milan representing grassroots football alongside some outstanding academy and elite teams from across the UK.

These are the experiences that help players grow. Challenging ourselves against high-quality opposition, stepping outside our comfort zone, and creating memories that will stay with the girls for years to come is what football is all about.

We’ll compete, we’ll learn, we’ll enjoy every minute, and we’ll represent our club with pride.

Match Report: U12 Milan vs U13 Jarrow Lionesses

Pre-season continued for U12 Milan with another excellent test against a strong Jarrow Lionesses U13s side.

It was a real game of two halves for Milan. The first half was disappointing by the standards the girls have set themselves. We were a little stand-offish, didn’t embrace the physical battle enough, and were far too quiet both on and off the ball. Credit to Jarrow, who took the game to us and made life difficult throughout the opening period.

The second half was a completely different story.

The girls came out with far more intent, competed for every ball, and showed the desire and fight we’ve come to expect from this group. Communication improved, although there’s still another level to reach and Milan looked much more determined to impose themselves on the game.

The comeback started in style, with Maddie rifling home a screamer from distance. 🚀 Next came another moment of quality as Estelle stepped up to a free-kick on the right-hand side and unleashed an unstoppable strike from range. 🎯 (The set-piece specialist strikes again!)

To complete the turnaround, Milan were awarded a penalty, and on her debut, Olivia showed real composure to calmly slot home from the spot. 🥶

It was a much-improved second-half display and one the girls can take plenty of confidence from. Pre-season is all about learning, and tonight reinforced what this group is capable of when they combine their footballing ability with the right attitude, communication and intensity.

Olivia is continuing her football at Newcastle City Juniors, coming onboard with Milan. Olivia is a player who is known for her pace, direct play and scoring goals. She is a player that has impressed in pre season and gives us that different option going forward 💪🏼🎲
