Over the last 18 months 4 badminton enthusiasts have been striving hard in pursuit of a shared vision - to create a home for Badminton in the North East. has been formed as a ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’, Community Interest Company (CiC) and is here solely to serve the Badminton community, all day, every day and all the year round. With the help of Newcastle City Council, we have identified a building with a 25 year lease which can be adapted and expanded. Located in Slatyford, the building has 3 good courts and excellent ancillary facilities, including reception, changing rooms, cafeteria and on-site parking. We have secured a substantial grant from BADMINTON England, the largest awarded for such a venture. This has been matched by private investment and, supported by Northumberland Badminton Association and Newcastle City Council, we are on the brink of turning the vision into reality. With all your fantastic support we now have high quality badminton facilities which include 9 badminton courts built to international specification, 3 based in the existing building along with 6 courts in a new hall specifically built for badminton. 🏸 From junior badminton to the senior leagues.

We’re delighted to see one of our Tyneside Sharks members, Seth, take another step forward in his badminton journey after being selected to represent St Gabriels in the Northumberland leagues this season.

Seth has spent the past three seasons developing his game with Tyneside Sharks, gaining experience through regular coaching and competitive opportunities before progressing into senior club badminton.

Creating opportunities for young players to develop and progress is at the heart of what we do, and it’s fantastic to see that pathway in action.

Heading to Tyneside Badminton Centre this Sunday? The Great North Run takes place on Sunday 13 September, with a number of road closures and travel restrictions in place across Newcastle, Gateshead and South Tyneside.

Please plan your journey in advance and allow additional time to travel. Major routes affected include the A167(M) Central Motorway, A167, Tyne Bridge, A184 and A194.

Our Level Up junior badminton coaching programme is set to restart this Wednesday, running for six-weeks, 5-6PM.

The course is suitable for players aged 12-18 who want to improve by learning new tactics and skills. With the help of our coaches, participants will cover a range of tactics and movement as well as a range of shots.
