Golfskillz redefines golf and golf training. More intense, more competitive, faster and more exciting. Every shot counts! It's a whole new game!

Golfskillz is a brand of golf training and competition where EVERY SHOT COUNTS. Training sessions, like competitions are based on and around a golf training facility where challenges that have evolved from golf's core skills of putting, chipping, irons and driving are measured and scaled to enable all levels of golfer to compete against one another. Constant variation of skills and intensity and competition bring out the very best in everyone.

Tip from the hip to form the right grip. Better posture can lead to a more natural arm hang and a more natural placement of the hands on the club. Be a master in doing the basics well. This player went from push fades to straight ball flight and more distance. @ Beamish Park Hotel

Some new clients arrive at their wit’s end thinking about giving up because they aren’t able to reach their former performance levels and own expectations. In this case a really good player. This is a before and after change of backswing sequence.
From hips-torso-arms-hands to hands-arms-torso-hips. Simples! This must be combined with a clear and purposeful training plan to measure progress and prioritising quality before quantity. Without that he won’t be motivated, focused or able to progress. @ Beamish Park Hotel

Strrrrrrriiiike! Coach has still got it 😉

One of our juniors was keen to show me how her swing has progressed following last weeks academy session. I’m delighted with the work so far but more delighted with her attitude to want to get better. Six months ago she was a shy little mouse with little self belief just starting out.

I love this photo. Everything people wanting to take up Golf want from the Golf environment. Sociable, individual challenge, team games, youthful. If Topgolf and similar alternatives to the game can get a golf club in peoples hands regularly and golf clubs can adapt to a younger audience then maybe the 25-55yr old black hole will disappear.

USE THE RIGHT ARM CORRECTLY TO SET THE CLUB IN THE BACKSWING

SEE VIDEO: Watch carefully how the right arm bends and the elbow stays in front of the seem of my jacket throughout.

IMPORTANT: GRIP - Placing the right hand on the club correctly will help to facilitate right wrist and arm movement as will the PHYSICAL ABILITY to achieve 90 degrees of right shoulder mobility in posture.

PRACTICE: Practice without a ball and where you have room to swing the club back. #

One of the important putting criteria our academy players have to master to pass Level 2 of the JGA training programme is to minimise head movement whilst demonstrating a controlled length of stroke.

We are yet to see anyone of our young athletes move their head without seeing hip/knee movement (usually sway and slide or rotation). Rotation may be ok for chipping but not putting. Here’s an example of a putting action with excessive rotation and later the improved action with no movement.

Needless to say there are many consistency issues with such unnecessary movement. Less is more. The simpler the better!

It’s one thing to show before and after in a lesson but can they be left to bring it out on the practice tee with the same attention to detail and then demonstrate back to the coach what they’ve worked on and how well it is going. This guy is doing a damn good job in winter training. Our aim with this kind of change is to take 6 months. 3 months to get comfortable with new feels and action then 3 months to refine it and test it under increasing pressure. On track but a long way to go. @ Beamish Park Hotel

Loving the improvised training aid on the range. Building a sound golf swing brick by brick.

The course in Paris this weekend may be tough but check out this pin position in today’s junior competition. It’s fast and furious out there. Here’s Flint showing us how to play it out. Had to stop him doing a Phil Mickleson though.

First one to one lesson for Flint. Slight change to right hand on club and relaxing the arms at address and he was able to improve leverage, sequence and balance throughout but more importantly consistent contact. Keep it simple. @ Beamish Park Hotel
