🇸🇪🎣 Swedish House Mafia - Winds of Change 🎣🇸🇪
Another year gone by and my Swedish clients Jan, Hans and Tomaz make their annual trip to fish the Cornish waters for the 4th year running with a 5 day slot to get it done, now after an insane few months of weather, finally Mother Nature started to show her moods, the trip in the runnings to it was one of those I actually advised the guys not to make the travel given the limited options we may encounter for the week given the forecast! The guys said they are coming anyway with flights/accommodation paid for and they’ll make the most of whatever we can, we’ll hit the shore if we have too!
As the trip edged nearer the forecasts started to look alot more promising and weather windows and options started to open and I could start to do my thing and get excited and pick what to hit and when! Things looking up! 🙏
We lost just 1 day to weather with a BRUTAL easterly hammering in, but that seemed to have so much kick, it seemed to knock the socks out of it for basically the rest of the week, seeing generally much better forecasts than forecast for the rest of the week, but we still had to work with it a little bit, with not all options open and pick where and when in conjunction with the winds, we got out for the following 4 days and enjoyed some fantastic fishing! 🙌
The guys had some great specimen fish over the trip with some to note, all having 100lb+ sharks and 2 sharks 150lb+ measured, Tope to 48lb, Inshore Conger to 48lb, 5lb John Dory, Huss to 14lb, Couches, Blacks bream, SE Ray of specimen size.
We had just 1 day offshore where the forecast looked possible so we hit the sharks with me hinting it may go bonkers with recent weather patterns and water fronts and let’s just say it was exactly that! With a misty/foggy start, starting slow and steady with a few sharks then as it cleared and we got going it was Full crazy town vibes as the day went on with serious levels of sharks entering the slick, we put the guys to work hard, sharking on this level can be a serious workout for all when you’ve done 15 sharks each back to back and the next ones cueing up for you 😂 chaos on deck with just the 3 guys on the sharks it’s relentless back to back action, loads of doubles, I think we had 5/6 Triple hookups and Quad hookups too! We had a couple of real nice specimens in the chaos with Jan and Tomaz both having some big Blues measuring out over 150lb+ before being released.
I don’t do much sharking in the height of it anymore due to the Tuna fishing, but it reminded me just how hectic and fun it can be and just how hardcore a full on shark trip is, to think I used to do that nearly everyday in the early years 😅😂
The remaining days saw us work with forecasts, that actually turned out to be better than expected, some very good Ray fishing, efforts for John Dory saw some great specimens and lots of Bass, we chucked In a reef anchorage for some Eels for an hour and Hans had the biggest eel I’ve seen here In yonks with a beast inshore reef eel of 2m long that swung the scales 48-51lb, epic fish!
Thanks for visiting once more, always a great time with you guys and just thankful we made the most out of possibly a no-goer and saw some epic fishing!
