My lovely husband prepared the electric fencing in my paddock, that had been rolled, harrowed and topped while Picasso was away. In order to control Picasso’s weight I carefully manage the amount of grass. He travelled home beautifully in the trailer again. Loading straight away as soon as the ramp was opened. Then unloading carefully.

Picasso settled into some in hand walking before Kate had a final gentle walk in him before he returned home.

While I am enjoying a fabulous holiday in Canada it has been really important to know that my furry family back home are also having a great time while I am away.

The trailer training paid off today. Picasso loaded like a pro. Straight up the ramp and settled immediately to eat his hay. Unfortunately the traffic was terrible passing through Bradford on Avon due to road works, it took 45 minutes to go 2 miles, but Picasso was brilliant.
We arrived at Kate’s and he settled into his stable. Gorgeous pony, lots of cuddles then we left him in Kate’s care.
Today Hazelrock Picasso had some fun in the outdoor arena. Walk poles, poles for backing up and turning and then some to s- bend over. He also tried to have a roll in the soft carpet mixture, but we managed to quickly stop him. Then finally he had a trot chasing the flag 🦄😂.
Back in the stable we practiced the folding over his back from each side but decided not to get on as we are not as agile as the fabulous Kate Raynor. 🦄💕
Picasso had been brilliant longreining for the first time without a leader on the tracks on the estate. He passed horses ridden in the arena but he found it just too much with the horse suddenly galloping about in the field. I quickly realised I needed to drop one rein get him to turn. We then went back a step and settled him walking past the horse before continuing carefully with the longreining.
After a short visit to the national horse racing museum we went to the amazing Dalham Hall stud.
I have tried to include all sort of important steps for Picasso for his training. This includes daily hoof picking and moving about of all 4 legs, 5 weekly hoof trimming from the farrier, gradually accepting rugs and fly masks so he can wear them in the field, loading in the trailer and eventually closing the ramps, shampooing in the wash bay, handling all over for his vet check and vaccination, meeting farm vehicles in a safe environment to name a few. Next week he is going away for the next stage of more intensive training with Kate.
