SECOND FINALS DAY FOR NEWPORT PAGNELL BOWLERS
Day two of our finals weekend provided some more exciting games and excellent performances across the board.

Taylor Cup (Men's Singles) - Pops
Congratulations to Pops on winning his first Taylor trophy.

Rosebowl (Ladies' Singles) - Chris
Congratulations to Chris who won the ladies’ championship for a third time.

Novices’ Cup - Shaun
This was arguably the finest match of the Finals Weekend. We witnessed 27 ends of hard-fought bowls over almost two-and-a-half hours that went the distance. George was on fine form after his Fenn Cup win the previous afternoon. However, Shaun, not to be outdone by his brother Tony (2025 Novices’ Cup winner), pulled out a magnificent shot to take the win at the death, keeping the Novices’ Cup in the family.

Dick Woolcott Cup Mixed Singles Sets) – Pops
The first match of the second session saw a repeat of the 2025 Woolcott Cup final with Pops retaining the trophy.

Open Pairs - Lynne & Carole
This was a new competition for 2026. Bowlers could choose anyone from the club to play pairs with. Carole and Lynne fought back from one set down to win the game on the tie-break in a thrilling finish to the inaugural final.

Ken Stevens Trophy (Mixed Triples) - Steve Gill & Dave
It’s 40 years since Steve last lifted this trophy! But he, along with the super duo of Gill and Dave, battled in wet conditions to win it once again. It was a close final and brought to an end our 2026 Finals Weekend!

Congratulations to Dale who retained the men's two-wood trophy for another season.

NEWPORT PAGNELL YOUNGSTERS BOWL THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS AT BUCKS COUNTY COMPETITION
Two of our junior members recently won both the Bucks Bowls Association Under-18 and Under-14 tournaments.
The one-day countywide event took place at Aylesbury Town Bowls Club where Johnathan won the Under-18s trophy and Lewis the Under-14s.
Both players put in excellent performances and added to their wins in our Academy's recent end-of-year tournaments when Johnathan won the Taylor Cup and Lewis the Taylor Plate.
All the youngsters who attended had a great day, and for many of our Academy members it was their first time bowling away from our club - so it was great practice and a great experience.
Well done to all our stars of the future and many thanks to the Aylesbury Town club for such a well-hosted event.

NEWPORT PAGNELL LADY BOWLERS TAKE THIRD PLACE IN COUNTY GALA
The weather was fine and the sun shone - a great day for our annual Ladies' Triples Gala - and showcasing our club in the local bowling community.
Twelve teams of three lady bowlers took part from all over Buckinghamshire, each playing three games of seven ends against opposing teams with points awarded for a win, a draw and the number of ends won.
Cash prizes went to the winners Uptown Girls from Bletchley Town; and second-placed Woburn Sandies from Woburn Sands.
The standard of play was high with great performances across the board on what is recognised as one of the best greens in north Buckinghamshire.
Well done to Sue, Helen and Pat who represented Newport Pagnell and took third place against some of the area's most experienced lady players.
The day was topped off with refreshments and a delicious two-course lunch.
A great team effort. Many thanks to everyone who took part and all those who helped make the day happen.

FIRST TYSOE TO WIN FAMILY SHIELD IN 40-YEAR HISTORY
A maximum field of 28 bowlers competed in Newport Pagnell's 40th anniversary Andy Tysoe Shield recently.
The shield was originally presented to the Club by former member, Ron Tysoe, in honour of his son, Andy.
Andy had a severe motorcycle accident, and was rehabilitated at Stoke Mandeville Hospital where he became a successful wheelchair bowler.
Ron wanted to establish an open, end-of-season singles tournament in his name.
A finalist in 2025, Dave went one stage better this year to become the 31st person to win the tournament and put the first Tysoe name on the shield - very appropriate since Ron was Dave's uncle and Andy his cousin.
The competition saw some strong performances from our under-25 section - most notably academy member, Johnathan, who at just 16 years old reached the semi finals, beating the previous two-year champion along the way before narrowly losing out to Dave in the semi-finals.
Thank you to all those who played and supported this year's competition.

NEWPORT PAGNELL BOWLS CLUB AND BOWLS ENGLAND ENTER JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP Bowls England funding has become available to support a new programme to develop a countrywide network of regional junior bowls academies - and Newport Pagnell has been appointed as one of those centres of excellence.
The aim is to build and deliver a resourced and structured junior development pathway from grassroots club level through to full international participation.
Our Head Coach, Howard Jones, commented: "We are absolutely delighted with this appointment, which recognises our innovative hard work in developing our Junior Academy over the past seven years.
"Our current development blueprint is already aligned with Bowls England’s programme, so we're well-placed to deliver this initiative, which will improve the quality of coaching and bring highly-skilled young players into our sport."

NEWPORT PAGNELL BOWLERS' IMPRESSIVE DOUBLE WEEKEND WIN Newport Pagnell went into the final of the Bletchley and District Mixed League against Chandos Park at Linslade recently, and emerged as very impressive winners.
In the run-up to the final, various local clubs fielded four teams of three bowlers, playing games through July and August.
Newport Pagnell won the competition and came home the victors after a resounding 94-50 win - a victory that turned the table on last year's result when Chandos Park beat Newport Pagnell to take the trophy.
The following day, Newport Pagnell took to the green again, this time in the final of the Bletchley and District Men's League at Chandos Park Bowls Club in Buckingham - a competition involving five teams of triples.
They were victorious for a second time in two days, beating Bletchley Town in an emphatic 94-68 victory. Newport Pagnell won the competition for the first time since 2021, thereby extending Bletchley's 20-year wait to take the trophy back to their silverware cabinet.

Massive 94-50 win for Newport Pagnell in the B&D Mixed Final. Thank you to Linslade for hosting. 🔵🟡🔵🟡

NEWPORT PAGNELL LADIES COMPETE AT NATIONAL BOWLS FINALS Two ladies' teams from Buckinghamshire reached the national finals in the Ladies County Fours at Leamington Spa recently.
Unfortunately, our team lost their game against a strong Oxfordshire side, but congratulations to Gill, Lorraine, Lynne and Carole for getting that far!
What an achievement for them to have played at the highest level, and well done for adding another string to the Club's bow.
