𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 | 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 🏁

Lined up and ready for their first session yesterday, these young riders are learning far more than how to ride a dirt bike.

After seeing just how much they’ve improved since we were last open and hearing from parents wanting to get their children into MX, we thought it was a good time to share a little more about what motocross has to offer.

The sport challenges them in so many ways. They develop coordination, balance and spatial awareness, while learning to make quick decisions, solve problems and constantly adapt to the changing conditions on track.

They build confidence, discipline, patience and responsibility. They learn to follow instructions, manage risk and challenge themselves, while building on the skills they already have.

But perhaps one of the biggest things motocross teaches is resilience and self-belief.

Sometimes they fall. Sometimes they get frustrated. Sometimes they struggle with something that just doesn’t seem to click.

But then they get back on.

Yesterday was a perfect example. It wasn’t an easy day, but they kept trying, kept learning and kept pushing themselves. That determination to keep going when something doesn’t come easily is a skill that goes far beyond the track.

And then there’s the MX community.

Motocross brings families together. Kids learn to encourage each other, respect other riders, share advice and celebrate each other’s achievements. They learn the value of teamwork and sportsmanship, while understanding the importance of helping others and being part of a community.

Parents become a big part of that too. Being a moto mum/dad is no easy task! But there’s always someone willing to help and offer advice along the way, and for many, the people they meet at the track become a huge part of their MX journey.

So, to all the young riders - be proud of how far you’ve come.

And to any parents thinking about getting their child involved in MX, hopefully it gives you a glimpse of what they can learn and gain along the way. Come along to Straiton and see what it’s all about!

𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 🚨

After such a great day at the track, we hate to be writing posts like this! 😅 But these are important reminders that we need everyone to follow to help keep the track safe, tidy and enjoyable for everyone.

🚮 Bins

We’ve noticed two chairs (pictured below) have been left in one of the bins at Straiton.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆. If it’s not burnable, please take it home with you.

We’re happy to provide bins for everyone’s convenience, but leaving items like chairs, tyres etc means extra work for the team to remove and dispose of them.

👓 Tear-offs

𝗡𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸.

We’re happy for riders to wear a tear-off to protect their lenses, as long as it is removed and disposed of in a bin when you return to the pits.

𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸.

🏍️ No riding in the pits

The team don’t like reminding you not to ride in the pits just as much as you don’t like hearing it! 🤣.

🚲 Push bikes

𝗡𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱.

We have a no riding rule in the pits, and with the site being busy with not only riders, but spectators too, we need to make sure everyone stays safe. No pushbikes or scooters allowed.

These rules are in place for a reason - please respect them and help us keep everyone safe, the track tidy, and not add another job for the team… there’s enough already! 😥🤣

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹… 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁? 👀

The first practice of the 2026/2027 season certainly did not disappoint! A great turnout across all classes. It was nice to see our regulars back, along with a few new faces 🙂.

The wind stayed down, the blue skies were out, and the new sand from Jump 8 onwards proved tricky for many! Over time it’ll get packed in, but some were comparing it to Tain! 😅

A huge shoutout to everyone for sticking with it, especially our youth riders. There were plenty of offs, but so many dusted themselves off, got back up and carried on. 💪 well done!

Behind the lens today was Raymond Leinster — thanks for coming along, especially for our reopening! 📸 We’ll share the photos as soon as they’re available.

Thanks to everyone that bought a hat and pre-owned kit. All money raised from the pre-owned kit will be donated to our chosen charity, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance - SCAA 💛
