We would like to inform all anglers and the community that we have blue green algae on the lake. It is the less toxin one, so we are hopefully ok. NRW has been out to check and advised that fishing can stay open, but all anglers must carry hand sanitiser. It is to be applied after handling fish and before they have any food on the bank.

All nets must be dipped before and after fishing. The net dip is at the side of the cabin . If you do decide to fish, please follow the instructions we have been given. If you are unsure, please ask. Please try to avoid Somerton end as that’s where the majority is.

Members of the public, please keep DOGS away from the water. DO NOT let them drink from the pond as it could seriously make them ill. Again, we are following advice from National Recourse Wales.

Anglers DO NOT THROW LOADS OF BAIT IN due to the nutrients, which will feed the bloom. This could be around for a few weeks due to the weather, and there is no rain on the forecast for a while, so again, please bear with us.

As stated, it is safe to fish, but please follow the instructions we have set out

RULES

NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS TO NIGHT FISH UNLESS THEY ARE WITH A FULL PAYING EXPERIENCED MEMBER WHO IS OVER THE AGE OF 18.

Day tickets - Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an experienced angler over the age of 18.

Members - Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an experienced member over the age of 18.

Children 13-16 years must have a valid rod licence. Which is obtainable from NRW. Its free for them. You just need to register them online.

Only size 6 to 10 micro barbed
Minimum of 12lb - 15lb mainline. 0.35mm diameter.
Minimum landing net 32 inches (1 per angler)
Large beanie mat, cradle or wall mat.(1 per angler)
Minimum of 4-inch hook lengths
Carp care is essential
Lead core maximum 1 meter. Providing NO fixed leads or hooks. All leads to be running free.
Baits buckets can be used for 1/2 hour to secure a peg.

If you haven't got the correct equipment or you don't follow the rules. You will be asked to leave the premises

Only members can night fish.

Maximum 48 hours on a peg. No swapping pegs.

ALL RUBBISH TO BE PUT IN THE BINS PROVIDED ON THE POND. IF ANYONE CAUGHT LEAVING RUBBISH ON THE POND, WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE POND.

Boilies to be used as hook baits or spodding no more than 1 kg
Sweetcorn
Luncheon meat
Mussels
Prawns
Floating bits are allowed, but respect the wildlife
Pop ups & Wafters
Pellets (no trout pellets)
Particles can be used, providing they are bought already cooked
Tiger nuts can be used, providing they are bought already cooked

Chod rigs are allowed

BBQ allowed as long as off the floor

Please, when taking photos, fish must be in a cradle or above a padded mat and on your knees. Anyone caught standing up, holding the carp, will be asked to leave.

Please don’t feel offended if our bailiffs ask to see rigs, as it's part of our duty to make sure everyone follows rules, fishes safely, and correctly.

Surface fishing is allowed, providing you are only using 1 rod at the time and take a net and mat with you.

Please fish on designated swims from the pegs you fish and respect the angler next to you.

If anyone is unsure, please ask our bailiffs, who will be more than willing to help you.

MATCH AND PLEASURE ANGLING

If you have any problems or issues, please speak to the bailiff team, who are more than happy to help.

Pole fishermen, please take care when using poles.

Pike rules and predator fishing

Predator fishing can only be done between the months of the 1st of October and the 14th of March. This is for the fish care and health during the summer months, and low oxygen levels pike become very vulnerable but will go on to spawn from April to September if they are released correctly.

Wire traces must be used,
20lb minimum braided mainline
3lb test curve rods or above
A large padded unhooking mat
A pair of long nose pliers or forceps with the reach of at least 8 to 12 inches
An unhooking glove
A good, strong, large landing net minimum of 30ins
Deadbeats are allowed only if they buy from a local tackle shop
Sensible size lures are allowed, and 2 Treble hooks are allowed, providing there is only one barbed on each treble
Live baiting is allowed, providing they are caught at one time, either Roach or Rudd
No live bait is to be retained
Please take extra time to release predators; normally, they will give 2 or 3 good hardtail kicks when they’re ready to be released and regained enough oxygen.

Only experienced fishermen can fish for predators through the months between October and March.

All new beginners to predator fishing must speak to the bailiffs before they predator fish, where we can advise and offer help.
