You don't have a fat loss problem. You have a stress problem.
When you're stressed, your body holds onto fat β especially around your middle. That's not random. Your midsection has more of the receptors that respond to your stress hormone than anywhere else on your body, so that's exactly where it gets sent. And it doesn't stop there. That same stress hormone gets in the way of your deepest stage of sleep β the stage where it's supposed to come back down again. So a stressful day gives you a worse night, and a worse night leaves you more stressed the next day. That loop is the actual reason nothing changes, no matter how well you eat.
Training to complete failure on every set feels like effort, but it spikes the same stress hormone even higher β so on a stressed week, it can work against you instead of for you. Keeping a set or two in reserve still builds you, without adding fuel to the fire.
A short walk works faster than almost anything else at bringing that stress hormone back down, because walking uses the same nervous system pathway your body relies on to signal "the danger has passed." Sitting still doesn't send that signal. Movement does.
And waking up at the same time every day, even after a rough night, matters more than the number of hours you slept. Your stress hormone runs on a daily rhythm tied to when you wake up β dragging that around each day confuses the rhythm and keeps it elevated for longer, even if you catch up on sleep later.
None of this is about trying harder. It's about removing the things quietly working against you before you add anything new on top.
