EUROPEAN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026

A fantastic performance from Shane Marriott at the European Senior Championships in Cagliari, Italy 🇮🇹

The event was held from 19–27 September, with 1,576 players competing across the age categories.

Shane reached the Last 16 in the Men’s Singles 35+ category, competing against some of the best senior players from across Europe. 💪🔥 In his second round match he managed to win a tough 3 set match against the 9th seed from Germany.

A great achievement on the European stage and another reminder that hard work and passion for the game never stop.

Well done Shane! We’re proud of you! 👏

🏆 DOUBLE CHAMPION! 🏆

Huge congratulations to Saindhavi Hemanth on an outstanding weekend at the Ulster U13 Open, taking home both the Girls’ Singles AND Girls’ Doubles titles! 🥇🥇

What a fantastic achievement and another brilliant step forward in her development. The hard work, commitment and determination continue to shine. She came into this event unseeded and facing the top seed in the second round. She managed to win in 3 sets and work her way to taking home the title. Finally thanks to partner Keeva as without her this would also not be possible.

From everyone at Newport Badminton Academy — we are incredibly proud of you, Saindhavi!

Two titles. One incredible weekend.
Keep pushing. Keep believing. Keep growing.🔥

What a weekend for Samved! 👏🔥

🥈 U11 Gold Boys’ Singles Finalist
U11 Gold Boys’ Doubles Semi FInalist
Now ranked No. 1 in England u10 🇬🇧

An incredible achievement and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and progress Samved has shown on court.

Reaching a Gold final is a fantastic result — but reaching No. 1 in the English U10 rankings makes this a very special milestone.

Keep working. Keep learning. Keep believing. 💪

The journey is only just beginning, we have worked with him now for just under a year on an individual basis and he has truly developed not only on court but also off court. However we are only a piece in the puzzle, testament to all coaches who have also played a huge part from the day he first picked up a racket to the coach with him now in Hampshire and Westgate. This is a team effort and his parents have also supported and trusted this process. We hope to help continue this progress going forwards.

BACKHAND NET SHOT — TECHNIQUE MATTERS

A quality backhand net shot isn’t about a big swing — it’s about control, finger power and precision.

🔹 Early preparation
🔹 Relaxed grip
🔹 Short finger movement
🔹 Contact in front of the body
🔹 Soft, controlled follow-through

The aim? Take the shuttle early and make your opponent lift.

Small technical details can make a huge difference at the highest level.

Work on the technique. Build the control. Own the net.
