A fine 7-1 win today for our over 55s over Pontyclun Vets at Llanwern High School.
Andrew Miles got us off and running with the first goal after 9 minutes followed by Darren Proctor Steve Pickering and captain Steve Willis giving us a 4-0 half time lead .
A few changes at half time by manager Philip Carr and whilst in control we further increased our lead on the hour mark through a second for Andy Miles. Coach John Ross made a couple more changes bringing on strikers Chris Herrin & John Routley and both got on the scoresheet to give us a 7-0 lead . To their credit Pontyclun kept going and bagged a consolation goal through Anthony Howells a minute before time.

A good win and plenty of game time for all 16 in todays squad . Next up in 2 weeks is Swansea Vets away .

Its been a busy few weeks of representative football for players in the club .The inclusion of Simon Old in the Wales over 50s squad against Republic of Ireland in Birmingham on Saturday meant that following on from Max Rhead's involvement in the over 55s 6 nations tournament held in Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago ,we have had players from the club on international duty in all the age groups that we compete in.
The same day as Simon made his international debut Wales over 60s were in action also against ROI. Included in the squad were Mark Carpanini,Laurence Owen ,Ian Jones ,Ian Daniels & Jon Ross in a 5-0 win.

A few weeks earlier over 65 players Howard Sully & Jon Williams were involved in the Oxford Vets tournament held at North Leigh and of course our significant contingent of over 70s &75s have been involved in warm up games for the World Cup which will be held in Gold Coast from 12 th 16th October.

Congratulations to all those selected for the WVFA representative sides.

An opening game defeat to Merthyr Tydfil Vets for our 55s today. A close fought game looked as though it was heading for a 0-0 draw until Mark Price hit a strike from outside the box in added time .
It was a strong performance against one of the title favourites and we were unlucky hitting the bar on two occassions ,so plenty of positives for manager Philip Carr to take from his first game in charge.

Next up in 2 weeks time last seasons champions - The Continental
