With Regionals now underway, our minds are already drifting back to the epic competitions that have got us hereโฆ ๐ญ๐โโ๏ธ
A solid few weekends ago, a small but mighty team of 15 Cormorants swimmers took on the Carn Brea & Helston Fast 5 event in Bodmin, a brilliantly tough format where every swimmer races a 50m in all four strokes plus a 100m IM. With points scored using the FINA system, every swim countedโฆ and our squad delivered!

10 goldโจ๐ฅ 7 silverโจ๐ฅ 10 bronze
An incredible medal haul, alongside some fantastic first competition experiences for our younger swimmers, great to see the future of the club stepping up!
Huge shoutout to Gwithyen Brown and Coral Follett for taking overall age group titles ๐
We also saw a strong showing at the City of Bristol Level 1 Long Course meet earlier this month, where our swimmers rose to the challenge at a seriously high level of competition and represented the club brilliantly (yes Emily and Zeek both forgot to bring towels!!! The bank of mam saved the day!!).
And of course, a special mention to Will Davies, who took to the blocks at the British Senior Championships & Commonwealth Games Trials at the London Aquatic Centre, an amazing experience competing among the very best ๐ช (keep your eyes peeled for a special feature on Will coming soon)
Now, with 14 Cormorants swimmers achieving Regional qualifying times (an incredible achievement in itself!), weโre proud to be competing as a joint squad with NCD, and making history with our first ever relay team entries! ๐ฅ
Good luck to everyone racing over the next few weekends, weโre already proud of how far youโve come. Letโs keep it going! ๐

See you tomorrow! Itโs on! ๐ช๐ฝ

Remember we said we had one more nugget of gold to drop from last yearโฆwell here it isโฆ
9 Cormorants swimmers made the trip to Bristol to compete in the 2025 L2 BSG National SC Qualifier Meet at the Hengrove Leisure Park.
This meet was really well attended with top swimmers from both the huge Bristol clubs, Plymouth Leander and most of the top clubs across the South West competing.
Our swimmers turned in some incredible performances finishing with a tally of 9 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. Amongst these performances Timmy Jones achieved a National Qualifying time for the 400 freestyle to go alongside the 50, 100 and 200 swims he had already qualified for (check out Timmyโs Nationals post on our grid).
Special mention must go to Will Davies who recorded 6 PBs and broke 4 Cornish records over the 2 days. Having lowered his own Junior records in the 50 & 100 backstroke he then broke Timmyโs 100 butterfly record. In his final event of the 200 backstroke he broke both the Junior & Senior records becoming the fastest ever Cornish swimmer despite only being 15 years old, a fantastic achievement. 3 of Willโs swim were Junior National Qualifying times and his 58 second 100 fly also makes him the first Newquay swimmer to win the sub 60 cup in 3 different strokes! - Head Coach

Will, you continue to smash it son, epic work!!!! Also looking extremely dapper in our latest drop of Cormorants threads which can be purchased from Swimpath!

Oi Oiiiiiiii itโs our Timmy!!!!! Remember we said we wanted to shout out our National achievements, well here he is ๐
Our Head Coach says:
At the recent British National Short Course Championships held on 11-14th December in Sheffield we were ably represented by Timmy Jones who had qualified for the 50 metre, 100 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre freestyle events. Over the 4 days Timmy produced some fantastic swims with 3 great personal bests. He not only lowered his own Senior 100 metre Cornish record but set a new Senior 200 metre record beating the previous record that has stood since 1987 by a massive 1.3 seconds.
๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ (Timmy YOU LEGEND!!!! Absolutely incredible scenes made at that comp - we are so very proud of you! All that hard work, continuous commitment and constant effort in the pool has been paying off! Awesome work!!)
๐
Our head coach also mentioned:
Whilst Timmy was smashing it in Sheffield a number of our swimmers joined Cameron and his NCD swimmers to compete in the Plymouth Leander Xmas Meet held at the Life Centre in Plymouth. Once again we had some great results with most of our swimmers recording personal best times. Despite stiff competition we came away with 7 golds, 6 silvers and 5 bronze medals.
๐๐
I hope everyone enjoyed a fantastic Xmas break. We are now looking forward to the Cornish County Championships in January and February where we will be working even more closely together with NCD to provide relay opportunities at County and Regional Championships for our swimmers.
May I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year for 2026 ๐
