Newquay Water Sports Centre

Yesterday we welcomed the team from local Cornish business for a team-building session with a difference.

The challenge? Build a raft together, with limited time as the rising tide gradually cut off their cove, then launch it and race back across Newquay Harbour.

The conditions added another layer to the challenge. The team had to communicate, make decisions, adapt their plans and work together to get their rafts built and back to the harbour beach.

It was also a chance to shake up the usual team dynamics. With leaders stepping back, other members of the team had the opportunity to take the lead, manage the build and make decisions.

And that’s what makes team-building on the water so useful. Put people in a different environment, give them a shared challenge and you quickly see different strengths come to the surface.

A brilliant session, plenty of teamwork, a bit of healthy competition and a fantastic way to make use of the Cornish coastline right on our doorstep.

It was also brilliant to work with a local business that shares our passion for looking after the environment. 🌊

Jellyfish, fish, crabs and plenty of other marine life have all been spotted on our sessions this week. And this is just a snapshot of what you can see when you slow down and look a little closer.

Wildlife spotting is one of the best parts of exploring the coast, but it’s important to do it responsibly. We teach you how to enjoy marine life without disturbing it, giving wildlife the space it needs while still getting a brilliant view.
