Just as well Iāve got mine on, although Iām not āoldā yet and probably not ideal for landscaping, but sooo much more comfortable! š¦¶š¦¶
University of Liverpool research, published in Clinical Biomechanics, reveals certain types of conventional footwear are not as beneficial to balance and stability for older people as specially designed minimal footwear.
Research conducted by the Universityās Musculoskeletal Biology Department, in collaboration with Vivobarefoot, has revealed that wearing minimal shoes may improve stability and physical function in middle-aged and older people compared to conventional shoes. This study confirms a growing body of data that minimal shoes offer certain benefits over conventional heeled, padded, and āsupportiveā shoes.
This insight could lead to changes in the way that clinicians and shoe designers think about how our choice of footwear affects us, findings that, if implemented, could lead to increased stability in older people.

About a year ago I started feeling unwell. Shortness of breath, chest pain, dizzy spells, I was anxious and avoided crowded places, and struggled to hold a conversation and be present.
It wasnāt until my work colleagues insisted I see the doctor and couldnāt go back until I had been checked out, that I did something about it.
The tests showed I had elevated blood pressure and cholesterol, and they wanted to prescribe statins. They believed my heart was fine but that I was āburnt outā and chronically stressed!
I had been pushing my limits for many years, just ācracking onā. Working shifts, supporting my wife Sam through her illness, trying to be the best parent, run a business on the side, and together with various situations I had been exposed to over the years in the Royal Marines and the police, my mind + body just told me āenough is enough Leeā.
There was no way I was taking statins before trying to change things myself, I hadnāt taken any pills to become unwell had I?
So I did what I knew best and went back to nature. Moving outdoors, running trails, swimming in the sea, training under the trees, walking and connectingā thatās when everything changed. šæ
