To promote water safety, develop beach life saving techniques and to encourage active participation in SLS competitions and SLSGB awards.

Our clubhouse is situated within the Fistral Surf Complex and we meet there throughout the summer, as well as at other local beaches - usually from the beginning of May to the end of September. Nippers and Sandhoppers can often be seen training on a Sunday morning during the summer at a beach in the bay or at Porth. During the remaining months we meet at local swimming pools. An important message from Newquay Coastguard Rescue team.

Everyone here at Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team would like to welcome you all to Newquay, Cornwall & Boardmasters ! We just wanted to remind you of a few important coastal safety tips to help ensure you have an amazing weekend 😁

Lifeguards
Always swim at a lifeguarded beach, standard patrol hours are 10am - 6pm.

Listen to lifeguard instructions and follow their advice, for more info go to: https://rnli.org/water-safety/beach-safety

Whipsiderry Beach
Whipsiderry steps to the beach ( between the festival site & Porth Beach), are closed to the public due to dangerous falling cliffs, please do not try to access this beach. The gate at the top of the steps is locked for your safety.

Coastal Emergencies
If someone is injured, has fallen or become trapped, needs help, or is in any form of difficulty along the coast, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard, do not attempt to rescue them yourself.

Disposable BBQ’s
Due to the exceptionally dry conditions and the risk of fire at present, please do not light disposal BBQ’s on any of the beaches or along the coast.

We hope you have an incredible time at the festival this weekend! 😁
Stay safe πŸ‘

Happy international Lifeguard appreciation day ❀️ πŸ’›

For Newquay Surf Life Saving Club, lifeguarding and supporting our community is a huge part of the work we do as a charity.

From supporting school surf competitions to regattas, New Year’s Day dips, triathlons to skips (yes you read that right), thank you to our amazing team of voluntary Lifeguards.

Today we also celebrate 25 years of the RNLI ❀️ πŸ’›

We want to thank each and every lifeguard who works tirelessly to make our waters safer. We recognise the lifesaving rescues that make the headlines but also the countless preventative actions that don’t. The advice given, risks identified, and incidents prevented are just as important.

Every intervention, every piece of advice, and every watchful moment makes a difference.

Newquay Surf Life Saving Club is proud to support our local community with surveillance patrols across Fistral Beach

But we aren't stopping there. We are currently training a fresh crew of volunteer lifesavers and Surveillance team to work alongside the RNLI ensuring our beaches remain protected, supported, and safe long into the future.

🀝How you can help: To equip our team and deliver vital training courses, funds are essential. If you are able to support us, please reach out

What a fantastic weekend for our Newquay Surf Life Saving Nippers, who came 3rd overall at the Cornish Competition at Carlyon Bay last week! πŸ₯‰πŸ’™πŸ’›β€οΈ

Congratulations to Portreath Surf Life Saving Club πŸ₯‡ and Hayle Surf Life Saving Club πŸ₯ˆ and a huge thanks to Carlyon Bay Surf Life Saving Club for hosting a brilliant two days.

With 68 competitors representing Newquay, every single nipper gave it their all. Saturday's beach events were made even tougher by sand that was too hot to lie on for the flags, while Sunday's sea swims tested everyone with a bumpy, challenging sea.

A huge congratulations to Oryn, Benji, Freddie, Jack, Jago, Amara, Arthur, Millie and Hennie, who all took part in their first ever beach competitionβ€”what an amazing achievement!

A special well done also to our newer older nippers Ivy, Annie and James, who stepped up and embraced the challenge with determination and great team spirit.

There were some fantastic performances across the weekend, including gold medals for both our 8–9 boys' and 8–9 girls' sprint relay teams, and the 8-9 girls board relay β€”a brilliant achievement and a testament to the hard work, teamwork and dedication shown throughout the season.

We're incredibly proud of every one of our nippers, coaches, officials and supporters for making it such a successful weekend. Finishing 3rd overall is a tremendous achievement, and we're excited to keep the momentum going. Here's to seeing everyone at the Nationals in Holywell this August!

🌊 FROM NIPPER TO LIFEGUARD: WE COULD NOT BE PROUDER! 🌊

Huge congratulations to our very own Jack Groves!

Jack joined the Newquay Surf Life Saving Club family back in 2019 as a keen young Nipper. Following a time with Watergate Bay Surf Life Saving Club (as seen here at a competition)

Watching him grow, train hard, and push his limits over the years has been an absolute privilege and now, he has officially qualified as an RNLI lifeguard with RNLI Lifeguards Newquay πŸ„β€β™‚οΈπŸš¨

Seeing our Nippers grow into skilled, dedicated lifeguards who are ready to keep our beach and community safe is exactly why we do what we do.

Jack, your hard work, grit, and passion have paid off in a huge way. The whole club looks up to you and is cheering you on.

Keep inspiring the next generation!

Drop a comment below to send Jack some love and congratulations! πŸ‘‡πŸ‘
