Yeooo get yer hole out with us on Tuesday Night,
This week we are meeting at Flagstaff Viewpoint @ 7pm and tackling this lesser known spot,
A beautiful forest with plenty of steep climbs, but a nice enjoyable pace with lots of stops to point at stuff.
Suitable shoes for gravel and mud,
Bring your headtorch 🔦

Tomorrow nights group run will be around the trails of Narrow Water Forest

Meeting point as usual will be the quarry entrance at 7pm
Giddy up!

Probably the place I've captured with my drone the most. It's such a handy spot to pull into the layby and just fly and get some amazing scenery.

Narrow Water Keep
* A Historic Fortification: This is the older of the two structures, dating back to the 13th century. It was originally built by Hugh de Lacy to protect Newry from river attacks.
* Tower House: It's a classic example of a tower house, designed for defense with thick walls and multiple stories.
* Strategic Location: Situated at the meeting point of the Newry River and Carlingford Lough, it commanded a crucial position.
* Tragic Past: The keep is also sadly associated with the Narrow Water ambush of 1979, a tragic event in Northern Ireland's history.
Narrow Water Castle
* 19th Century Mansion: This is a more recent structure, built in the 19th century in the Elizabethan revival style.
* Private Residence: It's still a private home belonging to the Hall family, who have owned the land since the 17th century.
* Luxurious Accommodation: The castle offers exclusive accommodation for guests, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur of this historic building.
* Beautiful Setting: Overlooking Carlingford Bay, the castle is surrounded by stunning natural beauty.
In essence: While the Narrow Water Keep is a historic ruin offering a glimpse into Ireland's past, the Narrow Water Castle is a luxurious retreat with a rich history. Both are significant landmarks in the area.

Back at it! we are at Slieve Gullion tomorrow, Taking in the beautiful trails of the Forest Park and Killeavy Castle

Start time as always is 7pm, meeting at Killeavy Castle.

Any questions drop us a DM

This week's Tuesday Trails is sure to be a good one (weather permitting). We are hitting Gullion but not the way we usually do. Instead of in and around the trails we are going to go up and over. So you'll see the lake, see the cave, see some hills lol and have lots of fun going down.

This will be a bit longer than our previous Trails (in and around 8 and a half miles) and tbh it's not for the faint hearted. It'll challenge you physically but will be worth it when we reach the top.

We aim to be done by 8:45pm so still you should get away with no headtorch but bring one if you please.

This is one not to be missed out on so if there's any run you do this week, let it be this.

See you all there

Tuesday Trails this week will take place at Feede Forest and Ravensdale. As always we will be aiming to start for 7pm and take proper footwear as the trails may be boggy.

Meeting point is the old chapel at the bottom of Jonesboro Hill. This isn't the scariest of trails in terms of elevation but is one of the longest so expect around 12k

See you all there and spread the word

Sun☀️ views 🖼️ and a hell of a workout ⛰️

This week seen the gang take on a new location
Starting off at the Lumpers and up the steep trails to the open mountain near carnavaddy.

For our hard work we were rewarded with crystal clear views of all the Cooley mountains and a beautiful sunset over Dundalk bay. Before a scramble back down to the lumpers

Cheers Ronan for leading this one 👌

Keep an eye out for our next meetup

08/04/2024

Tomorrow's trails will take place up and around the back of the Lumpers Bar. These trails are great but it's a location we don't hit often enough.

Why not join us for a great workout, great craic and something different.

Start time as always is 7pm and we will meet at the front of the Lumpers.

Wear proper footwear and you MAY still need a light for the latter part of the run.

See yous there

TUESDAY TRAILS INFORMATION

Kicking off a new month again with a relatively easy 10k run in Derrymore which has a looped course for anyone that finds it too tough and wants to cut it short, the following weeks get more technical and include more elevation each week

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in doing trails but want to try something easier to start. Also, it's an opportunity for those that are off work with the Easter Holidays (but previously caught up) to get out with us too.

The nights are now brighter but still we would advise anyone coming to take a form of lighting for the latter stages of the run. And wear proper footwear!!

Start time of the run is 7pm and the meeting point will be by the exit gates of Derrymore Woods. See yous there and spread the info
