Last reflock done in Donegal - For this visit! And a few days to spare! We showed you previously what comes out - first pic shows what goes in. Jacobs sheep wool. It's completely natural. The panel has to come off for a full reflock. Then it all goes back together, with a nice cushion to protect the animal's back. Thank you to the lovely people whom we have met this trip. We already have a booking for Mayo for September!

Anyone recognise the stuff in the picture? This is what is inside the panels of most saddles. This is what creates the shock absorber between your bottom and the horses back. It should not look like this.
This has been taken out of a saddle in order to reflock the saddle. It is 3 different colours or types. We ONLY use real wool flocking from Jacob's sheep. There are other types of real wool flocking used. The cheapest is synthetic and is normally used in teddy bears and cushions. Synthetic fibres do not work as natural fibres do. The flocking goes in as long brushed strands. It comes out in balls, as you can see. These balls are hard and can damage your horse's back. Look after your saddle and make sure the shock absorber is spongy! If it is hard, if it is knotty, get it sorted! If your horse ain't happy and comfortable then you can be at risk of causing hurt and damage to you or your horse.
