Well done to Ineos team manager John Bainbridge on another excellent season just coming up short to retain the title. Looking forward to next season. 💪

The final week of the 2026 Teesside Union took us on our longest journey, away to Saltburn, on a dry, sunny, and very windy evening.

In the scratch section, Shaun Collier (3&2) and halves from Stephen Howlett and Sam Telford secured 4 points. In the handicap section, an emphatic win for Tom Allison (6&4 pictured), and further halves from John Bowes and Mick McCabe secured a further 4 points.

Thanks to Gareth and the team for the superb hospitality and the excellent post match food; the best we’ve had all season according to some!

Thank you to the 22 players who have represented the club this year, for your commitment and efforts. To the volunteers, caddies, supporters, and to the Bay Horse (Heighington) for supplying the food after our home games, thank you!

A special mention to the unbeaten Stephen Howlett who ends the season as the divisions top points scorer (16pts - won x7 / halved x2); a great achievement, especially in one game less than his nearest competitor, and goes on to participate in the Match Play Championship.

Overall, a bit of a stop/start season where it was difficult to build up much momentum. It wasn’t to be for us, but we go again next year! 👊

Teesside Union Seniors Div 1

Blackwell GC 9 Ineos 4

We made the short journey to Blackwell GC for our penultimate game of the season needing a win to have any chance of retaining our title.
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be with only wins for Appleby & Robinson and Killip & Swainston giving us 4pts. There were two close games where we just lost out.
So we complete our season next week at home to relegated Hunley Hall. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Teesside Union Seniors Division 1

With only 3 games left of the season today we entertained Eaglescliffe GC who are one of the four teams in contention for the Division 1 title.
Wins today for Killip & Swainston, Howe & Walker, Cousins & Barker and a half for Appleby & Robinson gave us 7pts and we secured the home bonus point for most holes won. The result leaves us 7pts behind Bishop Auckland who play Eaglescliffe away next Monday. Wilton are 6pts ahead but only one remaining game.
Next week we are away to Blackwell. It’s going to be a tight finish. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

TEESSIDE UNION

Back in action tonight as we welcomed Middlesbrough GC. Weather was ideal and the course was looking tip top!

In the scratch section, Stephen Howlett (4&2), Michael Howlett (3&2) and battling halves from Ian Grainger and Lee Reynoldson secured 6 points.

In the handicap section, John Bowes (7&6), Tom Allison (3&1) Dave Whittington (2&1) and a half from Dan Harrison achieved a further 7 points.

A great game, played in a great spirit and still very competitive considering there’s little to play for this season. It’s a free week next week before our final trip away to Saltburn on 05/08

Taking centre stage on the post tonight is our club stalwart Ian “Buddy” Evans, who deserves special recognition once again for giving up his free time to ensure all opposition players are welcomed and directed to the course upon their arrival.

We’re back in action!

Our penultimate fixture of the season takes place Wednesday evening, and it's our final home game as we welcome Middlesbrough GC.

It would be fantastic to see plenty of support, and with the forecast looking great once again, it's looks to be the perfect evening to come along and support the lads!

Let's finish the season strongly and push up the league table. See you there! 👊

Teesside Union Seniors Division 1

Today we played our game in hand away at Eaglescliffe GC. We managed to secure 5pts that leaves us 2pts behind Bishop Auckland at the top of Division 1.
Wins today for Bell & Killip, Whittington & G Donnelly and a half for Howson & Walker.
This leaves us with 3 games remaining, home to Eaglescliffe & Hunley Hall and away to Blackwell. It’s going to be a very interesting finish to the season! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️
