Big Lime Tri and Aquabike

Sunday saw 5 ATC athletes compete at Hartlepool Big Lime meeting, in various events, with good results from all, and ATC over 70s dominating again
Jim Wilson took on the Sprint Aquabike, finishing 1st in the overall 70s age group in a time of 1:05:58, with splits of, swim 14:22 (speedy) and bike 49:22. Well done Jim another first place.
In the Standard Triathlon we had 3 athletes.
Mick Casey also took first over 70, continuing his great form, finishing with an overall time of 3:09::49, with splits of swim 36:37, bike 1:22:33 ( phenomenal ride) and run 1:04:55.
Mark Parnaby continued his strong form with a 7th place finish in his age group with an overall time of 2:54:40, wth splits of35:45, bike 1:22:20 (average 18mph)!! and run50:51.
Vicki Parnaby also continued her good form finishing 5th in her age group with an overall time of 3:16:28. Her splits of , swim 40:19, bike 1:34:36 and run 56:23 (possibly her highlight).
And finally, in the Sprint Tri, was Andy Sedgwick, in a ridiculously strong age group, (the over 50 winner finishing 5th overall !!!!) , Andy finished 4th in age group, missing out on the podium by 7secounds. His overall time of1:14:18, splits of swim14:20 , bike 35:43 (averaging over 22 mph !!!) and strong run of 21:54. Great overall performance in all disciplines.
Well done all over you guys.

Steelman event
3 Aug 2026
We had 4 athletes competing at Ellerton Lakes Steelman event at the weekend, 2 in the 1/2 Ironman distance triathlons and 2 in half distance Aquabike
The Parnaby both successfully took on the Steelman distance triathlons which is a 2k swim, 57miles on the bike and a 13 mile run !!!!!! There was an issue with some official timings so I’ve put personal times where needed in brackets.
Mark Parnaby, despite being nervous performed brilliantly to finish 7th in his age group, with an overall finishing time of6:32:00, with splits of, Swim41:21, Bike 3:31:40 (3:25:36)PB and Run2:13:03 (2:11:10 PB), as Vicki said, how can you run a PB after a swim and bike ride like that, answer good training !!!!
Vicki Parnaby,, who was worried she would make the cut of time, smashed it, finishing 11th in her age group, with a finishing time of 6:54:21. Her splits were swim, official time 27:23 obviously wrong and affected other times, watch time of 56:59, Bike 3:21:18 (average speed 17 mph, outstanding performance) and Run of 2:36:46. Vicki struggled on the run which isn’t surprising after that ride, but shows the potential still there. Both Mark and Vicki put in amazing performances.
Adam Simpson continued his strong performances in the Aquabike finishing 7th in his age group with a finishing time of 4:02:30. A very strong swim of 39:38 followed by a fast 3:21:16. Bike. Great performance, well done Adam.
And finally, Jim Wilson continued his strong performances in Aquabike, with another 1st place (gold medal.?) in his age group, with splits of swim 37:42 (fast !) and bike 3:43. Jim has been struggling with chest and breathing issues for several years now, but continues to produce great performances, an example and inspiration to us all.
Well done to you all, your a credit to yourselves and doing ATC proud.

Hayley and Leanne in action

Two of our ladies were in action and Derwent Reservoir at the weekend.
Hayley Matthews was competing in the Aquabike race, finishing 1st lady in a time of 1:13:33, with a fast swim time of 17:43 on an apparently long course, and an eventful and tough bike ride of 53:51.
Leanne Smith raced the standard distance triathlon, finishing 9th in her category, on a very tough and testing course, her overall finishing time of3:40:25, Leanne’s splits were…. Swim 48:50, Cycle 1:39:32 and Run 1:09:08. A great effort on this course.
Really well done ladies.

More success for ATC members at the weekend as Mick Casey carried on with his good form winning his age category again in the Lakesman Aquabike, winning with a time of 4:31:08, with splits of, swim 53:18 and bike 3:23:25 on a long tough course, Mick in the over 70 category amazingly beating over a 1/5 of all competitors
Mean while in the Long Run Collective 9 mile race, in an eventful race Andy Sedgwick won overall ( Michelle thinks lol) despite getting lost early on, ina time of 1:19:52, And Michelle Scott won the Ladies race, again despite adversity, suffering from cramp early in race. In a time of 1:23:10
Also in the same event but in the 15 mile race, yes 15 miles !! Paul Dalton finished a very credible 9th place in a strong field in a time of 2:48:00
well done to you all keep up the great work.

15/06/2026

On Saturday 13th June we had 6 athletes competed in various distance and disciplines at Ellerton Lake. In awful conditions, the strong winds played havoc, forcing the organisers to reduce the swim to approximately 500 metres for all races.
Michelle Scott, was a superb 2nd in her category in the sprint event, starting with the fasters swim of anyone in the sprint event with 9:07. A time only bettered by 2 people across the whole day, despite starting in a bad position and having to swim through the whole field. Michelle finished with an overall time of 1:21:31. Times where, Swim 9:07, Bike 45:05 and Run 25:06.
Adam Simpson also did the Sprint distance finishing a impressive 9th in his category, with an overall time of 1:35:49, with splits of Swim 11:45, Bike 48:35 and Run 30:57.
Standard Distance
In the standard distance race, first home for ATC and continuing his great form, and 1st in his category and 6th overall, was Andrew Sedgwick, with a fantastic overall time of 2:06:53, wth splits of Swim 10:10, Bike 68:31 and Run 45:44. Outstanding !!!
Also in the Standard distance race, Mark Parnaby continued his good and ever improving form with a 12th place in his category with a overall time of 2:40:12, with splits of Swim 12:56, Bike 1:23:02 and Run 58:28.
Vicki Parnaby also competed in the Standard distance race, finishing 6th in her category in an overall time of 3:05:30, with splits of Swim 17:17, Bike 1:32:44 and Run 1:10:28. A good performance especially with her limited swim experience in those difficult conditions.
And finally competing in the Aquabike event, with another podium for ATC, and his second podium spot in rescent weeks was Jim Wilson, with a second place in his category, with an overall time of 1:08:45, with splits of Swim 11:05 and Bike 54:43.
Really well done to each of you, doing yourself and our club proud
