Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club

Changes to the National Lottery means that Saturday nights now consist of two draws. To avoid any confusion the 59 Club bonus ball will still refer to the FIRST Saturday night draw.

The 59 Club raises vital funds for the Cricket Club and we currently have 17 numbers not taken. If anybody would like to take a number please follow the instructions below. Anybody joining the 59 Club before the end of July will be included in the Christmas £100 draw, as well as the weekly draw, with a chance to win £25 every week. ALL FOR JUST £4 PER MONTH

Junior results 🏏

Last Tuesday, the U13s travelled to Sedgefield. Morgan top scored with 15 and Carys made 10 while she opened the batting. Niall and Isaac got the only wickets as Sedgefield would chase the target.

Yesterday, the U13s played Yarm at home. Idris earned himself 2 wickets, along with Morgan. Harvey also chipped in with a wicket as Yarm were all out for 136. With the bat, Archer opened the batting and scored his highest score of 24. An excellent innings again from Harvey as he retired not out with 32. He scored 5 fours and reached this achievement with a six!

On Friday, the U15s batted first against Marske. Lucas scored 18 at the top of the order plus a first junior half century for Trent. He scored 51* which included 9 boundaries! Marske were bowled out in the run chase, as Harry took 2 early wickets. An excellent 4 over spell from Jack as he only went for 3 runs and took 2 wickets! Dylan got 2 wickets at the end, with Lucas, Jonah, Archie and Neve all getting a wicket. 9 catches and a stumping for the fielding team as they stormed to victory!

The U15s then travelled to Northallerton on Sunday morning. Early wickets from Miles and Harry, with Jack also getting another 2 wickets. Jonah got a wicket, which included an excellent diving catch from Jack. Harvey bowled well at the end to earn himself 2 wickets from his 2 overs. Another half century for Trent, which included 5 boundaries to make it his 2nd half century in 3 days!

The u17s played Darlington last week. 2 wickets for Carys along with a wicket from Jonah and Liam, who took 2 catches. With the bat, Trent scored 46 which included 9 boundaries!

Back to back wins for the women’s team✍️

The women’s team travelled to Darlington RA on Sunday evening in the NYSD softball hundred quarter-final. Natasha chose to bowl first and despite the early injury of Anneliese, NACC still took 5 wickets. Louise had 2 wickets plus Neve, Lydia and Addison had one each. An excellent batting display from Isabelle and Madison who made double digit scores with the bat allowed Aycliffe to progress to the semi-final!

The following day, the women’s team travelled to Rockliffe in the Hambleton softball league. Despite missing some key players, an excellent 3 overs from Carys as she took 3 wickets. Addison took 2 wickets along with Lydia, Louise and Tina. A first women’s team wicket for Evie too! Isabelle top scored again with the bat, along with an excellent batting display from Addison, Tina and captain Natasha. In the end, Aycliffe won by 69 runs to put themselves back top of the league 🏏

Winning draw again for the 1st team✍️

The 1st team travelled to Normanby Hall yesterday, and were put into bat. Another top performance with bat from Adam who scored 81. Will came in at 3 after the wicket of Tom, and scored a fluent 62 off 66 balls. This is Will’s first half century for the 1st team! At 35 overs and 200 on the board, Chris declared to try force the result.

Will was excellent in his opening spell of bowling, taking 2 wickets. Ramzan battled hard in his 11 overs to take 2 wickets. ‘Mystery bowler’ Adam Gittins got the key wickets of the Normanby opener and the captain to give Aycliffe a chance of bowling the home side out. Will got another 2 wickets in his second spell but Aycliffe would have to settle for their 4th winning draw of the season.

The 2nd team had a difficult day bowling first against Northallerton. Shashank and Matthew Thompson shared 5 wickets between them as Northallerton would pile on the runs. Matthew French scored 37 at the top of the order, with Shashank making 22. The 2s would be bowled out however we had Morgan making his senior debut and hitting a boundary off his first ball!

Women’s team news 🏏

The women have 2 away games in 2 days, starting off against Darlington RA in the softball hundred on Sunday.

On Monday, they head to Rockliffe in the softball league 😊

Women’s hardball result vs Darlington ✍️

NACC hosted Darlington in the NYSD hardball hundred yesterday. The only wicket came from Madison. Despite only the one wicket, Aycliffe bowlers kept it tight to restrict Darlington to 113.

At the top of the order, Tina and Addison put on a 106 run partnership for the 1st wicket. Addison scored her first senior 50 for NACC, in only 30 balls! She scored 8 boundaries until she was dismissed on 51. Tina was not out at the end on 37* as Aycliffe chased up the target with 39 balls remaining 🏏

The women’s team host Darlington tomorrow night, this time in the NYSD hardball hundred 🏏
