Next up in our Get to Know the Team is Alastair Livingstone “Ozzie” 👏⚽
Ozzie has been part of the Newton Stewart Ladies F.C. journey right from the very beginning and has been a massive help to the club over the years. He does a lot of work behind the scenes, helping keep things ticking along and supporting the Ladies in so many ways.
A true behind the scenes hero who doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves! 👏⚽️
1. How did you first get involved with Newton Stewart Ladies F.C.?
When the initial idea of forming a senior Ladies team was proposed nearly 3 years ago I was more than happy to help in any way I could. When they were finding their feet so to speak I knew how difficult this process of forming a new team was going to be so I offered any guidance I could provide them with to enable them to build on solid foundations.
2. What's your team out with Newton Stewart Ladies F.C?
Rangers 🔴⚪️🔵
3. What's your greatest memory in football?
Playing for the legendary Tarff Rovers and knowing that I was Brian’s idol ( at least for that 45 minutes second half cameo at Dalbeattie that day )
4. What has been your favourite moment with the ladies so far?
That first win was vital for the team’s confidence and the Ladies winning their League Cup group last weekend with a 100% record. I was delighted for them all and so proud of the team.
5. What does Newton Stewart Ladies F.C. mean to you?
I am very proud to support them in any way I can whether it be encouraging them to believe in themselves or doing the unseen stuff behind the scenes that no one sees , it’s vital for every team.
6. Who on the committee is most likely to be caught singing or dancing at football?
You wouldn’t call it singing but my bespectacled compadre ‘duff notes Moudie’ is a snake charmer on his recorder , self taught musical genius 👓 and the X Factors loss is our gain.
7. What is your essential matchday item — coffee, snacks, clipboard, or something else?
My ‘play piece’ 🥪 is essential match day requirement , I’m usually always starving before the games
8. Who is the biggest chatterbox at the club?
Leona ……………… we have a sort of love / hate relationship although deep down I know she really likes me 🤞🏻
9. Who is your footballing hero?
I’ve seen Maradona live , a true genius in an era where the refs didn’t help players much in the rough treatment department and there wasn’t this theatrical nonsense you see all too often nowadays
10. Proudest moment at the club?
Just being part of the group rather than any individual game or particular day. The resilience , determination and commitment these girls show week in week out makes me very , very proud to be involved with this wonderful group of girls.
