“Do I need physio or should I just book a massage?”
It’s a question we get asked all the time!

The easiest way to think about it is: what do you actually need from your appointment?

A massage might be right for you if:
• You’re feeling tight, stiff or generally achy
• Your muscles are tired after training or a busy week
• You want some hands-on treatment and recovery
• You don’t have a specific injury or problem that needs assessing

Physio might be the better place to start if:
• You’ve developed a new pain or injury
• You don’t know what’s causing your symptoms
• Something keeps coming back
• You’re struggling with certain movements or activities
• You have numbness, tingling or weakness
• You want to understand why something is happening and what you can do about it

With physio, we’ll assess you first and then work out the best plan for you. That might include hands-on treatment, exercise, strengthening, advice, load management — and sometimes massage too.

And remember, it doesn’t always have to be one or the other. Physio and massage can work really well alongside each other.

Still unsure which appointment to book? Get in touch with the New Wave team and we’ll help guide you to the right appointment.

SUPER SATURDAY ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a lovely review to finish the week with!

From 1:1 physiotherapy through to ongoing Pilates, this is exactly what we want the New Wave journey to feel like — supported, understood and progressing every step of the way.

We love seeing our patients move from needing our help with an injury or problem to feeling confident enough to keep moving, getting stronger and enjoying exercise again.

Thank you for trusting the New Wave team with your recovery — and for such kind words. 💚

Move better. Feel better. Live better.

When your instructor says “Hold for 5 seconds”… then gets distracted correcting someone’s form and suddenly it is 45 seconds and you have been forgotten😂

… who’s the biggest culprit for this at New Wave? 👀

MONDAY MOTIVATION 🌊

We often think progress means we need to keep doing more — lifting heavier, running further, adding more reps or constantly pushing to the next level.

But progress doesn’t always have to look like that.

Sometimes, consistency is the progression.

Doing something regularly and allowing your body time to adapt can be just as important as continually increasing the challenge. Staying consistent can build strength, confidence, capacity and tolerance over time — and those changes are progress too.

You don’t always need to chase more to be moving forward.

Sometimes doing what you can, consistently and continuously, is exactly what leads to more. 🌊

❤️ How does the New Wave team keep their hearts healthy?

We asked the team one simple question…

Unsurprisingly, most of our physios went straight for: EXERCISE! 🏃‍♀️💪

Then someone came along with stress management and good sleep… making the rest of us look slightly one-dimensional. 😂

So, who’s right?

Turns out — everyone is.

Regular movement and exercise are hugely important for cardiovascular health, but looking after your heart isn’t just about how much you move. Quality sleep, managing stress, eating well and giving your body time to recover all play a part too.

So while we’ll always champion movement at New Wave, the healthiest approach is probably a little bit of all of the above. ❤️

Move more. Sleep well. Manage stress. Look after your heart.
