Huge congratulations to our very own Ellyn Smith who took home Best Senior Boxer of the Night at our Home Show on 29th May 🥊

What an absolutely fantastic performance. This is exactly how we box at Newtown ABC – Ellyn Smith has got our style down to absolute perfection, following her coaches’ guidance while always finding her own way to make it work.

Ellyn came up against a tall, strong and experienced opponent – but she didn’t sit back, she brought the fight straight to her, turning up the intensity round by round. By the end of the third, there was no doubt at all who was the stronger, faster, sharper boxer out there. Ellyn won every single round, and put on an absolute show for our home crowd – who were incredible from start to finish.

Ellyn had also managed to achieve this while juggling some massive challenges – working late shifts, becoming an on‑call firefighter, and still putting in the work every single time.

This was Ellyn’s first bout after fifteen long months, where two heartbreaking last‑minute opponent pull‑outs stopped her from competing in two scheduled fights – meaning this moment had been such a long time coming. Her last time in the ring before this was when she won the Welsh Amateur Novice Female Championships.

So to see her step back in the ring at our Home Show, perform like a true credit to this club, and pick up this award? Couldn’t be prouder – so well deserved Ellyn 💛🖤

Kai had a monumental task ahead of him boxing against a much heavy opponent. We knew Kai was up for the challenge and trusted him with possibly the toughest job of the night. What a performance and what a great support he brought. The crowd was electric, Kai boxed really well all 3 rounds and was accurate and busy point scoring. He had a point deduction in round 3 which swayed the judges towards the blue corner 🥊

🥊 Daniel Langford returns to the ring after 18 months out

Facing a formidable opponent from his previous club, no pressure Dan 👀 Both boxers put on an absolutely fantastic display. Dan brought an incredible crowd with him, who brought brilliant energy and noise all the way through — making it a great atmosphere for everyone ringside.

A huge thank you to our allies from welshpool boxing club for travelling down with their team. This was a top contest, enjoyed by friends, family, coaches, referees and judges alike. Dan came out on top with a well-earned unanimous decision.

Credit where it’s due — a big shout out also goes to Dan’s former club for the part they’ve played in his development.

Joe boxed fantastically on the home show in Newtown! Joe put in a wicked performance showcasing his skills in a heavyweight contest at 99 kilos—he lost on points, then returned to the bout in Worley the following week, bringing a fantastic crowd to the home show and some fantastic support when traveling. Joe also lost this bout, however he came out in the second round really discovering his style, putting pressure on the opponent and making a fantastic change in the dynamic of the fight. Joe was unfortunate to be stopped in the second round, however this does not reflect the incredible second round that Joe put on. Keep your head up Joe, lots more to come from this man!

This was incredible matched bout. Obie picking up the win in 1st round. Both boxers had an explosive first round with some great combos and exchanges. Obie coming out as winner via stoppage picking up momentum after 2 back to back round 1 stoppages
