Ards Rangers Juniors FC

Today our 2013's kicked off their league campaign against Shorts at Billyneil. The game started a bit scrappy from both teams with most of the game played in the middle of the park. We soon started to find our feet and get the ball moving with some really good wing play from Jakey and Jude. We took the lead when the ball fell to Jude who made no mistake getting in at the back post. Both teams had their chances but it was Shorts who got a goal back with one from outside the box that Alfie had no chance with. This gave the boys a bit of a kick and we started getting ourselves forward again and with a great ball from Louis through to Cooper who rounded the defender and placed the ball into the far corner to give us a 2-1 lead going in at half time.

We made a few changes in the second half and changed a few positions and the boys really started to move the ball well with some really nice 1 2's and cutting Shorts open at times but couldn't get the 3rd goal. Shorts started to put us under pressure but the back 4 stood strong with some last ditch tackles to keep them at bay. Again the game became a bit scrappy from ourselves but we werr able to hold on and get the win. Good start to our league campaign moving up Into the 3rd division and starting off positively, but we have seen what we need to work on for next weekend.

Todays player of the match was Jacob McMullan. Defended brilliantly all game and started attacks getting us forward and non stop work rate. Well done mate and well deserved.

Big thanks to Georgia from our girls steeping into help out with a depleted squad today.

If you have a child interested in football, Ards Rangers 2022s starts Wednesday night. Everyone welcome 💙⚽️

The 2012’s signed off pre season this morning with a very competitive performance against knockbreda. Poor conditions and a poor pitch didn’t lend itself to our best football but the lads dug deep and got the win. We ran out 6-4 winners.
The boys have worked extremely hard all pre season and are now focused on the season ahead. The 3 coaches could not be happier with the lads and the effort they continue to show week in week out. Good luck lads for the season ahead

It was great to see some of our Juniors step up this year for their first year in senior football in the Northern Ireland Women's Football Association and hold their own.

When the girls section within our juniors was set up, the plan was to create a pathway for the girls to move into senior football, and to see it come into fruition for those eligible this season was very pleasing.

We look forward to seeing the girls progress and others make that step next season

A great day out for the Ards Rangers 2014’s as the boys enjoyed a team-building day at The Lake Kilrea Water Park! 💦
Plenty of fun, laughs and a few challenges along the way — a brilliant opportunity for the lads to spend time together away from the football pitch and build those team bonds. 🤝

Our Hawks continued their pre-season preparation with a friendly away to TW Braga. With a 9am kickoff it was a slow start for the girls and 10 mins in, Braga took advantage going 1-0 up with a worldy long range effort.
The girls responded immediately with a stunning goal from Rachel to equalise. From that moment on, we took control and played some excellent football with Rachel getting her 2nd to take us into the break with a 2-1 lead.
2nd half the girls continued their fine form, we were calm and composed under pressure and created chance after chance. Mia and Emelia were next to get themselves on the scoresheet before Braga got their 2nd to make it 4-2. With confidence high the girls continued to press with Mia and Emelia both finding the net again.
It was a real team effort and with one final push, Emelia completed her hat-trick to finish the game 7-2.
It was nice to be complemented by the ref who said the girls were “absolutely fantastic.”

Player of the match went to the whole team.

Today our 2013's took on division 1 BYM at the west winds in our 3rd pre season friendly. With a few players missing and playing players out of position we knew the boys would be up against it. We started the game brightly on the front foot with some really good link up play from back to front and alot more communication from everyone. We took a deserved lead when Louis picked the ball up and played a great outaide if the foot pass the break the lines for Cooper to get on the end of and made no mistake who was playing up front today with Jayden out Injured. Quite quickly Bangor got an equaliser with a mixup at the back. This didn't deter the boys as we started really playing some nice football. We took the lead again through Cooper with an instinctive finish lobbing the keeper. Again we couldn't hold on fir long when Bangor got another back against the run of play to go in at half time 2-2.

We made a few changes at half time and changed a few positions but again we started bright again taking the lead with another good finish from Cooper to complete his hattrick. But again we didnt hold on and another mixup at the back let Bangor back into the game. Bangor started to apply pressure then took the lead to go 4-3 up. The boys kept going again the football on show at times was a real joy to watch and we got back level from a free kick from Louis that deflected off the Bangor defender. We started to really apply more pressure and took the lead soon after with another goal from Cooper who was really on top form today. The boys really deserved to get the win today but with a long distance free kick Bangor got another goal back for the game to finish 5-5.

Another really positive performance from every single player and we can see what we need to work on but every game we have played teams in leagues above us and we certainly don't look out of place at all. Todays player of the match was Cooper, took all his goals well and was a constant threat the whole game going past players at times with ease. Well done mate and well deserved
