And so the 2026 season comes to a close - one very hot ☀️ but progressive season for the club!
Our 1st XI finished with an 8th win of the season against Rushden and Higham. A good start and end to the season, sandwiched with a very dry spell in more than one way! A new opening partnership has proved very fruitful 🍎 in the second half of the season between Anup and Ayush with also 1s debuts ⭐️ this year for David Lowry, Abhishek Saxena, Abhishek Gupta, Abdul Wadood and yesterday for Joel Cooper - all contributing throughout the season also great to see some juniors progressing right through to the highest level at the club!
The 2nd XI finished 5th this season with 11 wins. A very close Div 8, and would have clinched promotion with a couple more victories. 🏏Soumya has been great moving up to the top of the order for the 2s, along with valuable contributions from Alex Eddy and Coops throughout the year. The captain led the way with the ball along with Sri, Abhi G and Jatin.
The 3rd XI also finished mid-table. Dan Borrow led the way with the bat and Anil Pragada with the ball, but the longer lasting impact will the amount of juniors playing senior cricket in the 3s and also performing on the senior stage: Theo Borrow, Ollie Smith, Jack Himsworth, William Turner, Ed Hill, Toby Ashpole, Freddie Baddeley and Ellis Bramwell - most of whom I am sure will progress onto bigger things with the 2s and 1s in the not-too-distant future!
While we aren’t celebrating silverware as titles this year, it has definitely been a year of progression on the field and one that sets us in good stead for 2027 and beyond! 🔮
