Stages School of Dance

🌟 Morning everyone! 🌟

Just a reminder that we have our full show rehearsal at the studios this Sunday (and next Sunday) from 9:30am–12:30pm.

We’re aiming to start promptly at 10:00am, so please arrive from 9:30am, especially if you’re in the first few numbers. Apologies if this wasn’t clear on the letter handed out last week.

Please remember to bring:
💧 Plenty of water
🍎 Snacks for the morning (no nuts please)

This is not a dress rehearsal unless your teacher has specifically asked you to wear a costume.

If you’re only performing in the first half of the show, you can be collected at 11:00am. 😊

We are so excited to see everything you’ve all been working so hard on and to watch the show finally start coming together!

✨ Huge congratulations to these three lovely ladies who have just passed their Associate Teaching Qualifications with NCDTA, all achieving Honours! ✨

This is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment they have shown throughout their training. We couldn’t be prouder of everything they have accomplished.

We are so excited to see where this journey takes them and can’t wait to watch them continue to grow and inspire the next generation of dancers and performers.

Happy Half Term, everyone! We hope you all have a wonderful break and get to enjoy some sunshine 🌞 Just a reminder, classes are on today but then we’re off for the week returning Monday 1st June. We’ve posted several newsletters both on Facebook and via email—please do check them for show info. Also, double-check your dates as we have some key rehearsals coming up on a couple of Sundays in June. Costume letters should have been received by now, so please check deadlines for payments and make sure everything is paid on time - not long to go now! Thank you so much! 😃💃🕺

What an incredible day hosting the NCDTA Teacher & Student Workshop Event with the amazing Sam Lips! ✨

The NCDTA students had the opportunity to take part in three inspiring workshops in Tap, Commercial, and Musical Theatre, and the energy in every class was just fantastic. Everyone worked so hard, brought such positive vibes, and fully embraced every moment of the experience.

A huge thank you to Sam for sharing his talent, knowledge, and passion with us — it was truly a privilege to learn from such a renowned performer and choreographer.

We are also so proud to be part of the NCDTA and grateful for the opportunities and support they continue to provide for dance schools and students across the region. Days like this remind us exactly why we love what we do! 💙

We are very proud to be hosting the NCDTA Internationals teachers day today. Meetings and workshops for our wonderful teachers and students. We are very privileged to have the renowned teacher and choreographer Sam Lips lecturing for us - his list of professional credits is amazing. See you all soon! 💃🕺👯‍♀️🧑‍🩰

Stages School of Dance April 2026 Newsletter We hope you are all well and had a lovely Easter break! Please take a moment to read through the updates below, as there is lots of important information for the upcoming term.

Today we stumbled across something really special… ✨

While reading a post about the history of our building, we discovered these incredible photographs from the 1980s, captured by photographer Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen as part of her series Step by Step. We couldn’t believe our eyes seeing these moments from our North Shields dancing school — so full of life, connection, and story. We even still have some of the furniture captured in these shots!

Konttinen’s work beautifully documents the relationship between mothers and daughters, and the powerful sense of female community that exists within a dance school. These images remind us that what we do here goes far beyond steps and routines — it’s about shared experiences, support, creativity, and growing together.

Dance schools have always been more than just studios. They are social spaces, cultural hubs, and places where dreams — big and small — are nurtured alongside the everyday effort it takes to keep going. That sense of strength, continuity, and togetherness is something we’re so proud to still carry on today.
